He didn’t realize that the recent attacks would make the other wolves so afraid of a puppy. If he had figured they would have treated her poorly he would have made more of an attempt to keep an eye on her and let the general pack know of her presence so she wouldn’t have gotten into such issues. Regardless he couldn’t change the past, just learn for the future. Then again, he didn’t know of her poor treatment by some of the other members. If he had he surely would have had words to Pine that wolves were treating a child so poorly. He, well he could accept it, if they did it to him. After all he couldn’t help whom he was born too. His parents were well hated by the wolves who remained here after his father had killed the Empress, the loved Queen. He wasn’t sure if he would call Pine as good as the supposed late empress was. He wasn’t alive for those times, but he gathered it had been a good one.

Magpie though probably didn’t know that little tidbit of information. Should his own status trickled down upon her he surely would have been more angry. After all she had nothing to do with any of it, and while he didn’t either, he understood the prospect that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree and he was also molded to look like the traitor king, with the consort’s bright pink eyes. He didn’t expect it to effect the golden girl though, and most were better off just not knowing his origins just in case. He didn't’ expect her to be histrionic, even though by all rights she could have been, or anything so he figured she would have a peaceful life here.

He didn’t know his care for her was only making her more upset. It wasn’t that hard, he had to learn to hunt early, his parents certainly didn’t provide great for them, so it was that or starve, so it wasn’t a big deal to track down another muskrat or so, and it wasn’t even getting that cold yet even though winter was around the corner. Perhaps that was the reason she was curled outside the den when he had found her. She looked up at him, though she quickly averted her gaze when it came to answer his question. ”Just because there’s nothing to complain about doesn’t mean you like it. Suppose that’s to be expected though.” He said rolling his shoulders. He didn’t really understand if she was still upset. He guessed because he took her away from her home, but he had given her more than she had at her old one. She was treated properly, provided for rather than being used as a gopher all the time. If she did something he would’ve thanked her for it, showed appreciation. Surely this was better than her old life? He didn’t understand exactly her thought process or feelings, but he knew he never would either. Emotions seem to outweigh logic in most cases it seemed.

She seemed nervous about meeting Pine, perhaps it was because if she accepted living her that would mean her old life surely was gone? That was what he thought, not so much that the tiny alphess actually scared her. He thought it was more she knew it would be the end. ”I’m not going to force you, but regardless if you go or not I have to go. I have things I have to do for the pack too.” He said rolling his shoulders. ”I’m sure it would be fine, but it’s up to you.” HIs eyes went to her own, wondering if why she might be nervous about it when he finally ask, ”Did something happen?” After all he didn’t hover over her all the time, someone could have found her and his mind jumped to Cuirass at first, but he knew there were other more abrasive creatures around too.

She shifted, sitting up and asking him if she could fetch a rabbit, or tidy up around the place. ”Only if you want, and it’s not just to stall for time. It’s up to you if you go see Pine or not. Honestly, I feel it’s more of a formality. If she hasn’t chased you out yet, I don’t think she plans too. It’s not like I was taking measures to hide your existence here and with all that’s happened I am pretty certain she would have crossed your scent at some point.” He said, meaning to say it more to bring ease to her mind than make her more nervous. He wasn’t sure what her worry was, but he was thinking he might wriggle it out of her before they went.
