The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The weather had certainly cooled enough for it to be considered winter. Thought it did not seem to be particularly cold or snow filled in her home pack of Glorall, or even as she drifted outside its borders to the Grotto. The interwoven caves were a fun thing to examine. Matianak pondered all the ways she might somehow get Umbra lost and trapped down there. It was not her preferred way to end her dearest litter mate, but the grey coated girl was open to all possible option. She mused quietly to herself, brushing her tail against the walls of the cave network, taking care to not wander to far. After all, it did her absolutely no good to get lost herself.

In the darker places it was cooler, but there was still that tinge of fall. The extreme heat was problematic, though this was not. Matianak mused over recent conversations and encounters. Blackthorne was... Blackthorne. Her brother was certainly a bit of an enigma, but he had potential uses... and several troublesome qualities. More like their father than he probably realized, she thought with a smirk. Her nails clicked lightly on the stony floor as she turned, following a different, but still familiar path, edging her way towards the surface once more. This was a good place to think.

Eventually, Mat found a reasonable place to stop. The path she had taken weaved deeper into the Grotto, making it highly unlikely someone would approach from behind. Yet she was near enough to another entrance that it would be hard to miss someone entering the network this winter morning. And so she watched and waited, her pale eyes seeking nothing in particular but someone who might dare disturb her thoughtful silence.
