Ruxin. Talya decided she liked his name, with a wide smile that belonged completely to him. “Ruxin,” she sighed in soft, loving approval, leaning forward once more to lay her cheek against the warmth of his skin. Real. Real. Real. She could hear every breath he took and see the way his sides rose and fell subtly with the motion. She could smell him, a deep, familiar smell tangled with sea-brine from his recent swim. He was everything familiar and all that Talya needed, and never again would he be gone from her.

“Let’s go home.” Talya said without hesitation, and turned a brilliant smile to her brother. “Home is the Forest, it’s on Luthien. The Goddess of the Forest is there and she’s very nice. I’m sure she’ll like you. There’s also Aurora, who is a very good friend. Sometimes her eyes don’t work, but that’s okay.” Talya nodded, pulling away from Ruxin just so that she could begin to walk, fully expecting he would follow her and completely forgetting he was his own soul who had lived his own, independent life away from her.

“Mamapapa is there too,” Talya said this a little more quietly, and her blue eyes reached for her brother’s gaze and held there for a brief pause before she looked away. “I found him when I got lost. He brought me back. He brought me to the Forest.” Talya tilted her head thoughtfully. “We’re hiding.” She swung her head so she could look at Ruxin again. “Want to hide with us?”
