The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

TORABURU
just sitback and watch the world burn

Screw everything.

Probably not the most appropriate line of thinking for a child that wasn’t even upon his second birthday, it just was REALLY how he felt. He had his reasons, he had an asshat for a dad, his mom up and vanished, probably because of his dad and just… life was sorta… miserable and boring. His father was a bit… overbearing to say the least, very protective, didn’t let him out of his sight for a moment after he came stumbling back home after wandering off with his mom and losing her. He was pretty mad at her… well not pretty mad. Completely. Tora didn’t know or understand the complicated emotions his father actually felt regarding Faol’an’s leaving, but one thing's for sure he was colder than when she had been around in the past. Tora wondered most the time if his dad even wanted him or what was going on there. His dad had a hard time showing it, just like the russet child that took so much after him currently storming his way as far as he could get from the plains.

”Stupid dad… and his stupid annoying hovering. I’m happy he’s sick so he can’t follow me.” The boy growled, kicking a couple rocks from the outside of the grotto as he sneered, showing off the fact that he was missing a tooth giving him a lopsided look. His top left milk canine fell out at pup hood and just never came back, leaving him with only three of his four important canine teeth and adding to his already mismatched look with his blind right eye on top of it. He was a mess to say the least, mentally and physically. He looked gruff and dirty, and it was more in rebellion to his father than anything else. HIs uncle TRIED to be the voice of reason but it was just so… frustrating. He was messed up as his dad was already. Though it wasn’t like he HATED his family he was just… annoyed with them.

In his musing he hadn’t really noticed that he had come upon the cave’s entrance. He watched as the rock he had kicked went down into the dark depths of the cave. He was much less scared of such things as the boy who had gone in just before him though he had to admit the shriek he heard certainly didn’t give him any good feelings about going in. It sounded like a little girl… not that Tora had any experience with girls, just he knew boys weren’t supposed to be screaming like that. They were brave and tough and shit like that. Mugen said it all the time, they weren’t supposed to be bothered by trifling things like emotions, and sickness. That was for babies and he wasn’t raising a baby.

Like the man he was though, Toraburu puffed out his chest and walked boldly forward, looking more like a marching puff ball with gangly legs as he came out of the snow and into the caves. Looking around he didn’t see anything at first. His one good eye slowly adjusting to the darkness as he went further in. He could still hear a yowl, but it suddenly stopped with a bit of crumbling rock noises off to his left. One thing his half blindness helped with was he guessed he had better hearing. He gave a snort as he marched onward soon finding the fair bit smaller, same aged boy crumbled up against a wall. Was this the source of the yowls.

”Hey you, little girl? What the hell are you doing down here? You’re gonna wake up all the bears before they are ready.” He huffed at ‘her’ cause obviously it couldn’t have been a boy running around and screaming like that. Least by his father’s words.
