Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

This wasn't working. There must've been some faint incline at the edge of the lake because every time Maude got close to the edge and moved to stand up, she slid back several inches and had to start over. She was quickly coming to the realization that she had two options. She could either stubbornly refuse the other wolf's help and shimmy her way around the edge of the lake for the rest of the day until she could find a way off the ice...or she could let him help her. Maude stopped her wriggling and stared at the dark wolf with his green eyes and his peculiar streaks. After several seconds and another offer of help, Maude finally relented though she was still a bit wary.

"Fine! But if you try to eat me I will murder you from the inside." She wrinkled her nose and snarled for good measure, brown eyes narrowed. She knew that Iromar was a haven for cannibals and she wasn't about to become an afternoon snack. She had enough troubles in her life and it was bad enough that she'd probably scraped half the fur off her chin; she didn't need to be eaten on top of that.

Blustering and growling to cover the fact that she truly was a bit nervous, Maude wriggled her way to the edge of the lake once more and peered up at the other wolf. Hoping that she wasn't making the worst mistake of her life, she grunted to signal she was ready and waited for teeth to closer around her neck. Wouldn't that be a fitting end to a short, mediocre life? But she supposed if she did die, she could at the very least give the brute indigestion...and she wouldn't spend another winter alone. True it was only her third winter alone but she wasn't sure she cared for a third winter of rejection.
