During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

A Promise Was Made

It was not Kirastasia’s voice that awoke him, no, rather it was the smell of blood. Heavy lids rose slowly to expose the glowing pools that marked him as a tempest - his rage boiling just below the surface, ready to be released at a moment’s notice. The last thing that he remembered was running across the land, and collapsing from exhaustion outside of Wudubearo… And of course that he had been going there to find Kira. And the smell of blood? It never meant anything good… Was it her blood? Was she in danger? Drizzt jumped to his paws, a pounding headache immediately almost knocking him back down. His knees trembled and he winced, blocking out the pain - he had to focus… Focus on finding Kirastasia. But with the splitting, blinding headache that he had, he did not want to have to rely on his sight. Little did he know, but if he had only opened his eyes for a second longer, he would have seen her. Instead, he was left to his ears his nares, his senses of hearing and smell respectively. What he heard was tiny, high-pitched cries, the panting of another, and the slow, hissed breath of a third. Other than that, there were no words, only silence… Until suddenly, biting, vicious words were spoken. And what had he smelled? Yes, there was blood… But it was not from a wound, for it was mixed with something sweeter, the bitter tang of iron softened by something… and mixed in with all of that, he could smell Kira. His eyelids slid open and though the light irritated his eyes, he kept them open, and wandered his gaze until they landed site upon his soulmate. They focused upon her and saw her aura, riddled with concern, a dark purple, but also hurt, a throbbing burgundy... and a... rage? Could his sweet angel be angry with the fallen, birthing creature not far from the pair of them? What else could the beating crimson be... He shook his head - why would she be hurting? And what was with the smell of…

Blood.

His case had fallen on the other ess, and suddenly it all made sense. He skimmed his gaze back to Kirastasia and saw her swollen sides, and it was almost looking out at the before and after - she was pregnant… And this other fae had just given birth. The two clearly knew each other, and were more than just pack mates given the words that the strange had spit out his darling. His lips rose in concerned, a little growl built up, and he wished he could cross the boundary to move to Kira, but she was partially settled past the boundary, he had to settle for pressing his nose against her shoulder, and nuzzle against her gently while the other far finished whelping. His vocals were low, meant for her ears only.

You did not think to come tell me that you were with child, my heart? We have not seen each other since that night nearly two months ago now. Oh… I would’ve come before now had I known.

He smiled at her, his eyes shifting occasionally to the stranger, keeping an eye on her. She seem to have curled up, to be asleep, but when Kirastasia was around, everyone else seems like a threat to her safety.

Is there anything that you need, dear? Do you need food, comfort? Who is this who would be so hateful toward you? She said that her pups were to be your siblings? Is she… Your mother? She does not seem to be of the correct age for that… Perhaps your stepmother? I realize now that there is so little that I know about you, but I’m not going to let you down, I will be here for you throughout the rest of our lives. Nothing will part of us, save for death. No, I will trust this to you, my past has included many packs, but if this is the one that you call home, this is the one I shall call home too. I will pledge myself to this land and its ruler in order to be by your side, forever. If… If that is all right with you. You are pledged to me, and I to you by the gods, but I suppose that there is no magic that holds you to me. There is, however, magic that holds me to you. But if it is not me that you want, I will not push the issue nor disrespect you by intruding into the territory that you call home, I would not wish to make you uncomfortable.

Drizzt fell silent uncomfortably, realizing he had started to ramble, his sentences stringing together in a nonsensical away. Any time he was around her, he seemed to fumble like a nervous pup - all he knew was that he wanted to protect her, to make her comfortable, but he feared that he was doing just the opposite. After all, she had more to worry about in this moment than his feelings, than their relationship. She was carrying their children… Or was she? Uncertainty filled him, and he realized that they had slept together as strangers - who was to say that she had not laid with another. He was devoted only to her, but did that go both ways?

Are… Are they mine? I suppose I should have asked that first… I just assumed…

He closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against her shoulder, his tip toes grasping tightly to the earth on the far side of the boundary, wanting dearly to leap across the boundary and engulf her and then embrace, to take her away and find her a den where she could have her pups in privacy, whether or not they were even his… but then she exploded. Passionate, hurt words fell from her lips and she somehow managed to pull herself to her paws before running off, her abdomen teetering treacherously side to side. Drizzt had only a moment of hesitation - to cross the boundary would be disrespectful and could mean the signing of his own death warrant... but he couldn’t and wouldn’t abandon her. With a brief glance to the side toward the sleeping lass, curled about her pups, he longed forward, his weight flying across the boundary as if it was a pit of lava. And then he was running as if the very embers of that volcano were upon his heels, chasing him. He did not know where she had gone, he did not know this land at all. How long you had it taken him to find her? Long enough so that he only saw the birth of the last pup, and heard her words. The titan shook his head and approached her slowly, cautiously, and would begin licking the top of her head affectionately in a caress if she would allow him.

What is their point? They are our legacy, they are meant to fill our lives with joy, with stress, but mainly with love. I don’t know what happened between you and her, I do not even know her name, but I am here. Can that be enough for you?
