Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Leilani

I waited with bated breath as the fish finally stopped moving. The fish had given up, and I tore into the wet flesh with sharp teeth. I always found the crunching of fish bones unpleasant. But, they would give me enough sustenance to continue with my day, and I supposed that was what was for the best. I had grown up eating fish, living on an island it had been one of our main preys. There were herds of wild boar and smaller mammals, but those were saved for special feasts, so day to day, it was fish. I guess I still hadn't gotten out of the habit. Even a year or more later. I shook my head as I felt the blood popping within my mouth. The taste was so full of copper that it started to overwhelm the taste of the fresh fish. The large grey/blue scaled fish would definitely keep me fed for the rest of the day, and most likely into tomorrow. It was enough to make it to where my body wouldn't ache from hunger.

I heard the familiar rumbling of a hungry stomach, and I knew it was not mine. I lifted my head, pink tongue darting out to wipe the blood from the edges of my maw. The girl stood staring, and I couldn't help but pause as I let my eyes drag across her form. She was small, shorter and tiny compared to me. I felt my heart ache, and I heard the ancestors begin to speak in my mind. Telling me to care for, possibly teach this girl to care for herself.

She spoke then, her soft voice reaching me filled with questions. "It's a fish, my dear. Likely a trout. Would you like one? I can either get one for you or show you how to get one yourself." my voice spoke clearly, a slight floral-Esq tang to it. I wondered where the girl had come from, and what she was doing here all alone, but at the same time, I felt like it would be expected of me to help her, either that meant I feed her or show her how, either way, a fresh meal would do the girl some good. Somehow, I doubted whatever her last meal was, was fresh by any means.

I looked back to the half eaten fish at my feet, looking back to her with a soft smile. "I am Leilani, by the way."
