Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Now was the time to be alive and thriving in Moladion. Gazmala wasn't quite old enough to remember the good old days, but she relished the stories of blood and violence; snarls and growls were a sweet lullaby to her when she was little more than a ball of gold and black fluff. Her mother had done what she'd had to to keep the both of them alive and it had bred within Gaz a determination to lift herself above any height that her mother might have clawed her way up to. She would not have to bargain her dignity for food and shelter. A girl could be grateful for what she'd be given and still disdainful of how it had been achieved.

Slipping from the mist and rot of the moors, Gaz picked her way on dainty feet across the valley and through the fields, feeling the need to stretch both her body and her dark little wings. With her focus having been on seeking out the Darkbringer and his motley crew since his meteoric rise, she had had little time to play her usual petty games with the inhabitants of the freelands. Stirring up petty drama was on her list for the day, sewing seeds of malcontent and lighting fuses. Peace was far too boring in her opinion and sometimes a hornets nest needed to be poked.

With thoughts of how she might achieve her goals for the day, a gleeful smile curling on her dark lips, Gazmala traipsed through the tall grasses, pausing here or there to sniff or nibble at a wildflower. She even went so far as to pluck a daisy and carry it about with her, the pristine white petals almost jarring against the starless night of her face.

Knowing that water often attracted wanderers, Gaz shifted her course, flower still clasped in her teeth, painting the picture of a carefree soul, she fairly bounced to the edge of the water, acid touched eyes scanning the banks for any sign that a freelander was near. Aha! Well hello my little pretty, what have we here? There was more than just one, in fact there seemed to be several wolves enjoying the turn in the weather. But the one that drew her attention was the one that held himself apart and simply watched the others.

As he watched the others playing and talking, Gazmala watched him. At first he appeared as though he wanted to join in but as she studied his features more, there was something about him that tickled her sense of the unnatural. Her smile took on a faintly devious cant and she decided that as much as her goal had started out to bring discord into a perfectly delightful spring day, she would much rather pick and prod until she discovered the reason that this wolf stared ahead with little to suggest that he saw or felt anything.

Slinking up beside the lone wolf, Gazmala settled herself prettily beside him, dropping the daisy between them as she adopted the persona of a wolf who was both curious and perhaps a bit concerned, certainly friendly enough. "Why do you not join in with the others, pet?" Her head tilted slightly and her black ears pricked forward eagerly.
