Spilling out, blowing over like sand

She was still whirlling about with the loss of her brother, when her other brother had been whisked out on some journey by Enderly. She was confused and lost. Not sure what was up anymore. When she went to Spirane she met a boy too and that felt… weird… She hadn’t seen him since but she wanted to for some reason she wanted to go right to him and cry even though she never had met him before. Instead, she stayed home, comforted by her remaining two brothers. Rurik was always good for a laugh and Andriel was the best big brother with cuddles and grooming she did okay, but she missed Pas… well Possum. She missed him lots and she missed the energy that Shadow had brought too. It wasn’t the same without them both. The den felt empty and cold sometimes. She watched as Andriel had his turn being groomed, quiet and thinking, as her little light form laid curled in some pelts. She hadn’t noticed anything wrong or different she didn’t even hear it the first time lost in thought as she was.

Perhaps that was what made her a little slower reacting than she should have been. Watching as her mother stood up, her brother following her outside the den, but then she heard his voice, Shadow’s voice. Her heart could have leaped from her chest, just as much as her little lithe form did scuttling after the much larger forms of her father and brother Rurik, but the scene she saw wasn’t one of glee like she had hoped. He was filthy, and there was a strange smell in the air she didn’t recognize, but made her stomach churn slightly. She weaved around her parents legs, her eyes wide as she looked at the state her sibling was in.

”Shad-ow?” Was all she could barely murmur watching as her parents and brothers overwhelmed the situation with their own words and doting leaving her pressed back terrified of what was going on. Next she knew she heard their daddy say get herbs, was he sick? Then watched more as he cleaned seeing the red come of his pelt. No, that wasn’t right. He was crying in a way that made her tear up as well, worry for her sibling all she wanted to do was throw herself around him but she couldn’t, not yet at least.

They asked what happened and her ears felt like they had something stuffed in them. His yelp broke though though, causing her to start and cry. She felt helpless… She had been wanting to learn about herbs and everything too, but all she could do was stare and cry as her father cleaned him and did what he had to to the wounds. It was all quiet like a murmur as he stuttered through his words and tears explaining what had occured. Though she had no idea what he had whispered. She didn’t understand but Shadow was hurt and that was enough for her to shake and quiver like a fall leaf on a branch ready to fall at any moment.

She didn’t understand… Why couldn’t their family just be together and happy like they always had been? Why did it all have to change?

Just like the feelings I have grown to love…

How quickly they can all fade away
