Their bond had been one that generally allowed them to be appart, but always aware of one another. Haziel allowed very few in to his personal life though, Nahal was one, Alcmene was the second. Everyone else he kept a good emotional distance from. Sure he talked to his other family when he was younger, but it had been years since he really interacted with any of his numerous siblings, and he was rather surprised when he had met with Solara only to find her regretful for her judgements in her youth, but besides that, it felt little had changed. Most of them were gone, left the land, living their own lives or dead regardless. Right now even Nahal had pulled one of her many wandering acts and she hadn’t returned for some time again. He always wondered if one day she would just vanish it it would be the last he would hear from her again.
Right now though, he was far more focused on giving his imprint some long overdue catching up time. He had all the time in the world on his paws now. He guessed he could be labeled as ‘retired’ in some ways. Though he still had plenty of good years left. One thing he always enjoyed about Alcmene was her confident honesty. It wasn’t as haughty as those of his family, more endearing he supposed. Perhaps it was just she actually had a filter and thought about the things she said before blurting out something ridiculous as his grandfather and many of his siblings had. ”I would say. Seems like you still hunt as if you did just out of your youth. Though perhaps with a bit more precision. Years of honing your skills pays off after all.” He often forgot that she was a fair bit younger than himself. While he couldn’t see it there were a few grey furs on his chin and under his eyes, nothing horrible, but enough to show his age. Regardless he wasn’t slowing down anytime soon either, retired or not.
At his question to her condition, he could hear her shuffle around slightly, he figured she was fine, but again it was hard to tell with the scent of all the blood about. A small ‘mm’ passed his lips at her reply, pleased to hear that he had been right and she was over all, just fine, nothing out of the abnormal at least. Though she seemed a little distracted. He wondered if someone else had been near, his black ears twitching about hearing nothing but the waves coming upon the shore, the wind rustling the trees and her own breathing beneath that. Seemed like they were truly alone out here today. After all there were times when he knew she had been watching him and Nahal after all it was very difficult to hide from Haziel’s nose and ears. Being blind did sometimes have its perks.
Still he was ripped from this train of thought when she offered him some of her kill. ”Ah, yes, that would be greatly appreciated. Between the storms, lack of a bit of assistance, and prey in general, I have been finding it a little more… difficult than normal to hunt for myself.” He admitted his tones perhaps sounding a little crestfallen. After all it was still a bit hard for him, an independent individual, to admit it allowed, she would be one of the two he ever would tell his less than brilliant sides to though. ”Though, I know the pack has a couple litters, so I don’t wish to take any if it is for those mothers and pups.” He wanted to ensure there would be plenty for them. They were more important than himself this day and he was surviving and would continue to do so for many years to come.
