I knew this was a strange idea, to follow someone I didn't even know the name of, but lets face it, since when do I do anything that I'm supposed to do? See, never. Dad would be tanning my hide if he knew I was doing this, but hell, what's life if not a little reckless. I walked quietly behind the boy, my steps light and quiet. I was smaller than the average wolf, thus leading me to be an agile walker, light of foot and easy to move without sound, should I try. But I wasn't doing all that much trying right now. I was just naturally light in my movements.
He led me where, I had no idea to be honest, but I wasn't the least bit concerned. Perhaps I should be, as most would, but I wasn't like most others. I kept following, my eyes taking in the trees that passed, making a mental note of which direction we were heading, because lets be honest, I wasn't as stupid as I was acting. I knew I would need to know how to get out, should something go wrong.
He spoke of it being a nice enough place, if you liked trees. I shrugged, speaking out quietly. "
I'm not too sure about trees. I was born next to the ocean." But then he asked why I was out there. "
We lost our home. The original alpha had been gone awhile, so we had a new one we were okay with, so far, but another came in and Mom wanted nothing to do with it anymore. And now...we're out here." I bit my tongue, the urge to say 'for however long she has left' because lets face it, I knew she was going to leave me soon, It was just a matter of when now. I looked towards the boy as we walked, my shoulders tensing as the thoughts rumbled through my mind.
I always wondered what kind of nexus mom and dad had to keep them so closely tied, even though we all knew mom was fading faster than we hoped.
