At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

HONDO

Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake;

She started by apologizing for dirtying him, and Hondo waved one of his paws and shook his head, dismissing it. Though he truly did not like being dirtied, cherishing his well groomed appearance, he would not place the blame upon her. It been his choice to dive into the mud to save her… Although to be fair, she had been the one who needed saving in the first place, so perhaps in a way it was her fault, at least in part. Still, there were more important matters to talk of other than how his pelt had been dirtied with the swamp mud, foul as it was… And so he went about introducing himself to her, and had used his suave skills of communication to explain to her exactly what that she would’ve met if he had not come along. Hondo was not a cruel nor evil wolf, but he was self-serving in most of his acts. It was only because of the magic of the water that he had even risk himself to save this lass, elsewise he would have passed her by. Alas, his heart was pouring full of love, and he had been drawn to her. As it was, he usually put himself on a tier above others, even going so far as to refuse to play with his siblings. In his mind, he was self important, wise beyond his age, and until he found his equal, he would not stoop to their level.

And perhaps it was that wisdom that forced him to say that they need to figure out a way to get home. After all, they were young, and knew nothing of the ways of the world or how to survive without their parents to feed them. Hondo had been bothering and begging his father to teach him to hunt for a long while now, and his father just kept saying when you’re older. But he was older every day, so when would be old enough? How many days or weeks past his birth must he to be before he would be allowed to learn how to survive? If his father did not teach them soon, and anything were to happen to Justice, they would be dead anyway. Part of the bruteling wished that Missandei would say that she knew how to hunt - it would mean that they could live together out here, away from everyone else, instead of being forced to return home and separate. But she didn’t… Yet she to seemed to be reluctant to part ways. Hondo smiled at her again, amused by the dark markings he had placed on her face, but a slight frown formed as she pulled away despite the fact that she had just suggested that they stay together. But the grin was quick to return when she suggested starting back the way that he had come… This could be wonderful! He could bring her home, and finally he could have someone worthwhile to hang out with and play with in Wudubearo.

I would be more than happy to find a way back to my home with you… Will you stay with me there? My father has more pups than he knows what to do with, and I have no mother, although there is a female that has taken kindly to us. I’m sure one more puppy will mean nothing to him… But it will mean everything to me! You see, I don’t really like anyone else… But I really like you! So what do you say, Missandei?

He leapt at her, not trying to throw her off balance or even really hit her, he just wanted land in front of her to be closer to her. When he landed, he immediately dipped into a little bow, his rump wiggling excitedly even as his tiny tail doubled the tempo. Here was the lass that he could see himself spending all this time with, she was so much better than his siblings, or even his dad. Maybe she was even better than miss Kahlan... but he could not force her to come with him, and he knew this. And the thought of not having her return with him made him sullen and irate and irritated… But why did he want to stay in Wudubearo for anyhow? If she said no, maybe he would just simply stay out here, in the swamps, learn to hunt on his own, and they could meet up every few days...
