Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Being back within the invisible confines of the plains pack was somewhat unsettling to the beast. For he had been there when the lands had first been made for him and those like him. Jaidah had taken the plains and given it to him, to their broods, to those like them. It was she who had killed to carve out a place for the monsters of the world. And it was she who had not answered a challenge against that lifestyle, she who had sent him forward to suffer his first and only defeat. Thereafter he had scorned her, caring not to seek her or their offspring out again. Yet now he was back there, with his mate and their progeny. It was not within his capacity to wonder if the same ends would come around once again. But instinct demanded he stake his claim upon Enya once more, and this was the place she had chosen - following their eldest pup, who had fought tooth and claw to take the plains for herself. If it was something he was capable of feeling, he would have been proud of her.

As it was, he took up the responsibility once more of keeping him and his fed. For now, that included only himself and his mate. Their whelps were grown and capable of hunting for themselves. Familiar with the notion that hunting pack was taboo, the behemoth of Moladon crossed over the heavily marked boundaries of the plains at dusk. Monstrous paws carried him through the neighboring forest, his senses alert to his surroundings, seeking a target to stalk. He moved steadily across the landscape, away from any noise created by wolves carrying conversations.

Night was quickly approaching, but the barest amount of light kept the woods ever so slightly illuminated as Reaver slowed to a stalking pace. He had picked up the scent trail of a lone wolf, and he was slowly closing the distance. Dark teal eyes striated with emerald green peered through the forest until he spotted his target, a typical gray wolf with an agouti coat. As the female milled around, circling the small clearing she'd found, he waited and watched. His ears flicked back and forth, listening for whether another wolf - perhaps a mate - might be close. He had no qualms with hunting two wolves at once, though. Silently he stalked closer and closer, until he stood just behind a tree that fringed the small clearing, waiting for her to turn her back.

When she did, he thundered forward, his immense form crashing across the clearing in two leaps. The shewolf was average sized, and rather than stand and fight she turned and ran. She was light on her feet, and fast. If Reaver couldn't close the small gap within the next couple of strides, he would lose his meal. He was an ambush predator, his colossal size rendering him incapable of long pursuits, but he had gotten close enough to give him a good chance at success.
