Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The proud and noble blood of Coszcotl and Iblis shone brightly in their granddaughter. Halcyon felt a bit of that pride rise in him as she spoke of doing the right thing, not just for her pack and family, but for all the wolves within Moladion. She had truly grown into an honorable wolfess the likes few could rise up with. Even now, she politely bowed her head, refusing to hold it above others like some alphas did. Zelda had become everything her uncle had wanted for himself, but he was too stubborn and wild. He found himself wanting to do good by her, to be someone she could look up to the way he looked up to her. With a smile, he mentally shook his head. One day, he would grow up to be like his niece.

Then she was off, telling him of the agreement she had made with Blackthorne in exchange for his daughter and Whisper. Unable to hold back the sigh of relief, he listened intently to her. So, it seemed the thorn and the knight were at odds with each other. Good, that meant Halcyon could have another ally to aid him in his goal. Perhaps he would need to seek the white wolf out sometime in the near future and discuss with him his relationship with the usurper. His niece spoke true that the information could prove to be quite valuable and he nodded in agreement, his eyes distant for a moment as he thought about what he had just learned.

She wasn't done just yet and at the mention of his son's name, Halcyon's attention was snapped back to the here and now. At once, his ears drooped. It hadn't been what he was expecting his son to say. The words did little to ease the father's growing anxiety about his child's wellbeing. Physically, he was well, but the cruel alpha was obviously poisoning his Aspis' mind. Time was growing short. Halcyon feared above everything that he would be able to free his son's body from Iromar, but not his mind. His eyes moved to the swamps and a deep growl oozed from his throat. After a moment, he returned his focus to Zelda. "I owe you more than I will ever be able to repay, Zelda. I think my next step is to seek out Arturio. I can't keep bashing my head against the wall. It's not working and it's only wasting time. I've never had a mind for planning, but I believe there are some who can aid me."

At once, the image of Ame appeared in his mind. His oldest friend was wise beyond his years. He would speak with him before finding the white king. After his defeat to that bloodthirst wolfess, there would only be a few places he could retreat too. Perhaps Diveen would be Halcyon's first stop. At long last, he had a plan! Again, he reached forward and licked Zelda's cheek fondly. "My father would be proud of you. I know Coszcotl is too. One day, I hope I can be as wise and good as you are."
