Brother in arms. The Dynamic Duo. The Rogues. Names the two had called themselves as children so many years ago. Life had forced them to take different paths, but their friendship had remained unbroken. Hearing Ame offer his help seemed to life a great weight off Halcyon's shoulders and the wolf nearly collapsed. He wasn't alone in his endeavors anymore! But, the wiser wolf wasn't finished yet. Of course, he had seen the faults in Halcyon's current plan almost at once. The russet boy had never been a strategist nor had he had the patience for infiltration. He had always been brash, bullheaded, and impulsive. Ame was right, as usual. The two of them couldn't just rush in, grab Aspis, and dart away scott free. Nodding, Halcyon listened to his friend and sighed. "I wish I could have grown up to be as smart as you. Perhaps if I had, none of this would have happened." Taking a moment to lie down and take the weight of the world off his weary paws, Halcyon thought of how best to relay his plans to his friend. "I agree. Should anything go wrong, and let's face it, it probably will, we might be able to find shelter in Diveen. There is a wolf there I need to speak with, the White King Artuino. Zelda has told me that he and Blackthorne are at odds with one another, making him our ally." He left Taviora out of his plan. The alpha of the forest had promised not to involve herself with Blackthorne's enemies and if things went down the way he planned, he was about to make himself and Ame hated by the swamps. "What I've gathered from my… many failed attempts at trying to penetrate their borders is that the place is heavily guarded. The wolves there are fiercely loyal and won't hesitate to kill any intruders. I've been lucky so far, but luck can only take us so far on this." Looking up to his companion, he tilted his head to the side. "I think we need to try a different approach. Stealth may be our only chance of getting in undetected. There is a weak spot in their defenses. They rarely check the boarders by the ocean. That could be our best bet of getting in. Perhaps we need some sort of diversion to ensure that they keep their eyes off of us." Halcyon didn't want Ame to risk his life for his short comings. Maybe he could convince the wolf to stay out of the fighting for the most part. But would that work? Ame had a good head on his shoulders and knew Halcyon better than most. Chance were, he'd see right through that plan and toss it off a cliff. |
