Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

Oblivious to the fact that she’d intruded on another wolf’s serene moment of contemplation, Seraphina carried on with her rather ridiculous display of energy. Perhaps it was just being in Moladion that energized her, or the thought of seeing Haziel again, but she felt a good five years younger than she was. It was funny how the years fell off when home was within reach. To Sera, home wasn’t so much a place as the people in it; perhaps that was why she’d carried her hope of finding Forfax for so long. Whatever the case, she’d finally accepted that he was no longer a part of her home. She refused to believe he was dead or anything like that, but if he’d chosen not to be a part of her home, there wasn’t anything she could do about it, especially after all these years. In a way, accepting that had been like a weight lifted from her heart and she felt a curious freedom. Now there was the true source of her uncanny energy.

With a giggle, she paused on a rock and wiggled her rump like a pup then hopped into the stream again with a splash. Unaware of the male that artfully blended into the shadows alongside the stream and fully absorbed in her romping, Sera’s tail swayed broadly behind her. Not a single twitch of the ear at either bark or voiced call but for the flicking away of droplets of water. At one point she even shoved her snout under the water in a rather ridiculous display and blew bubbles. Pulling her head up and shaking it, she finally caught shifting of shadows from the corner of her eye and blinked and slowed her reckless marching through the stream as the shadow took the form of a wolf who seemed to be a little out of breath. A little alarmed that he might have been chasing her, she stares at him, wide-eyed as the fading light filters through the break in the canopy, highlighting the mottled and striped nature of his coat. Still, when her eyes lock with his, something inside of her clicks and an entirely new source of energy wells up within her. Black tail like a pendulum behind her sways at a steadily increasing pass, though almost at the same moment of that shift within her, the male seems to collapse.

Startled and a little confused, Seraphina took a fre cautious steps toward the dark, brindled heap, pulling back abruptly when he began to right himself. He was quite large and his coloring was like nothing she’d seen in all her travels. Once again her eyes found his. They were like beacons in a vast darkness. A beautiful almost sky blue of a clear summer day. Convinced of a sudden that she could stare into those eyes far longer than she thought was proper, it took her a moment to realize that the male was talking. Giving her head a little shake and trying to calm her racing heart, Sera fixed her gaze on his lips and caught the tail end of what she thought might have been an apology. Taken off guard by the rather eloquent compliment that followed, Sera let out a soft snort followed by a giggle. Her, divine? She was of angel blood so it was a rather ironic choice of words though she wondered if he knew. She was one of the fallen; the imperfect angels that lurked in Moladion. A blight or a scourge as some of her relatives might say. Her eyes sparkled with the humor she found in the situation and her tail continued to sway behind her, flicking water this way and that.

As the male stepped closer, Sera felt a strange anticipation building up inside her, as though every hair, every cell was vibrating with excitement, eagerness. It was unlike any sensation she’d ever felt. He was so close, close enough to smell, close enough to see the true intricacies of his coloration. There was something about him, something that pulled at her, called to her on a cellular level that she couldn’t even remotely begin to dissect. His whimper was not heard but she saw the slight shift in the fur around his neck and thought he might have made a sound. His expression wasn’t particularly helpful in helping her decipher it. Was he growling at her? She knew that growls rumbled and vibrated the air, she was close enough that if she just took half a step closer, maybe she’d be able to tell.

Lifting a paw she started to step forward even as the strange but compelling male did and froze when his head slid up against her neck. Nope, definitely not growling! As he nuzzled at her neck, Sera’s eyes went wide as energy surged through her, emanating from the points where they touched. If it hadn’t been for him pressing his chest against her, she was fairly certain that it would’ve been her turn to collapse into a puddle of fur and be washed down the stream. Holding her stiffly, her mind raced, putting together all the little pieces to make a whole. When all the pieces were finally fit snugly in place, there was only one conclusion to draw. After so many years she’d finally come across her imprint in a spectacularly embarrassing fashion. She hadn’t been some majestic figure in the distance or bumped into him in passing like she’d always imagined. She’d been the deranged middle aged wolf splashing in the stream like an unattended pup. With a huff, she wrinkled her nose but the tension eased from her body the longer she was in contact with him...this wolf whose name she didn’t know. She’d ask his name but for a moment longer she buried her nose in the fur on his shoulder and sucked in his scent, committing it to memory so that she could find him anywhere. One thing was certain, at least in her mind; he was her imprint which meant that he was now a part of her home. What would Haziel think of that?

Finally pulling back, Seraphina moved just out of the stream then turned to face the male, her head tilted and spoke, though her voice was a bit low and a little hard to hear over the trickle of the stream. ”Get out of the water, silly.” Her tail continued to sway steadily behind her and her black ears were pricked forward, some might think in eagerness to hear any word that her imprint might say but in truth it was just a show of her excitement and interest. Useless as they were, Sera’s ears served only as an extension of her expression.
