Kajika was at least a little bit proud of himself. Made it up the tree on the first try! That was something at least. The whole standing on the branch was a different thing all together, but he would get it. It's what he was an incredible student. The young wolf listened and paid closed attention.
It was his way to block out everything that had happened. His parents were gone, and they weren't even that old when they died. Paisley had gone in her sleep, and then Jinan had been sick from the loss of his mate and imprint. All the more reason Kajika needed distractions so as not to be focused on that loss with as young as he was. It also reminded him that he'd need to find Mohegan at some point and see how his brother was holding up. Maybe he might even be able to convince him to come to Asteraia. Taviora was full of pain for the brindled boy, so he wasn't even sure if his brother would even be venturing outside the forest pack.
Enough with the distracting thoughts. Cuirass was looking at him. Kajika didn't notice the smirk on the man's face. He was more focused on not falling off the branch now that he was quite firmly up the tree. He wasn't sure if he was more afraid to move or more afraid of falling off. He saw the wolf's paws as he rose and placed himself right in front of him. His cerulean gaze drifted up towards Cuirass as he spoke. The boy furrowed his brow at the words. He hadn't thought of it like that. "Oh..." he said quietly before looking to his own paws as he clung to the branch.
Like a log, he was told. One paw at a time, he slowly steadied himself, rising to all fours. He was still a bit shaky, but he was definitely standing on the branch doing his best to think of it more as a log on the ground versus an elevated branch in a tree. "How high have you ever gone?" he managed to ask curiously after he finally felt stable enough to not fall off their perch.
