News - SUMMER

Summer has arrived. The world has been well at peace, and others seem to be trying to take advantage. They believe we are lazy and complacent. We are no such thing. Remain vigilante, friends and family.

Give your congratulations to Maiko. She has been promoted to Blizzard; she earned it.

We also have an activity check going. Please reply so I can make adjustments accordingly. Check will go for an entire month so we can hopefully capture everyone.

As always, if you have need of me, do not hesitate to find me.

Return to Lunar Children
An unexpected reunion [Beltran/Jaime/Laronius]
IP: 108.55.67.239

Since his run in with the crazed black she-wolf, Royce struggled with his need to find Maude and his desire just to leave this forsaken place in the dust and return to his old life. Maybe minus the flirting and the carelessness. He was no great male beauty any longer. The black she-devil had seen to that. His muzzle was marked and his lip mangled from her teeth and he was missing a goodly chunk of his left ear as well. Perhaps if viewed from the right side he might stand a chance but the left half of his face was ruined. Jubilee had done her best but even her curious little tattered pouch held nothing that would replace lost flesh.

Jubilee. There was another peculiarity to this land. She was a tiny, uncertain thing and quite lovely. But rather than elicit his usual response of puffing his chest and enticing her with his manly charms, he’d simply been...well it was hard to explain. It was a mixture of curiosity and calm with a hint of protectiveness. She’d seem lost and seeing her in the deluge had made him think of Maude when she’d been in that awkward stage between pup and woman. Uncertain and yet determined. Not that Jubilee elicited brotherly feelings from him. He was still enough of his old self, despite his desire to change. But she’d decided to visit her home and reconcile or reconnect with her brothers. Needing to find his own sister, he set out on his search again, his healing wounds itching though he’d try not to scratch.

Having spent almost a year trying to find his sister in the freelands, Royce decided that perhaps he should start checking with the packs. It seemed odd to him that she would join a pack, but if she truly had been injured, perhaps she hadn’t had a choice. He’d be grateful to any pack that had kept her safe and healed her. With the scent memory of her blood clogging his nose, Royce started to make his was across the field. This had been the general direction that her trail had led before the water had washed it away. From his explorations, he knew that there was a pack amongst the plateaus and red rocks to the east. He’d start there then work his way along the coast and up into the mountains where hopefully he could visit Jubilee again. For some reason he wanted to make sure that her reunion had gone as desired. The thought of her family turning her away had a growl rattling in his chest. She was small and gentle and did not deserve scorn.

Upon reaching the edge of the Diveen packlands, Royce lifted his head and howled. The sound was a bit altered by his torn lip but his meaning was conveyed well enough. He was looking for someone and needed to speak with a pack member. He was surprised, however, when after a few minutes, a familiar howl rose up from the rocks, joined by a few smaller voices before fading. Blinking, Royce frowned. Had that been Maude? And what of the smaller voices that had joined her? Pushing up on darkened paws, he shook himself out and took a few steps forward. It wasn’t long before a familiar female charged up over a ridge but her gait seemed off and she paused to look back behind her rather than continue on to him, her tail swaying.

Angling himself so that his injuries weren’t so obvious, Royce watched as three small heads peeked over the ridge. The heck? One of them disappeared again, a little green-eye pup with a dark muzzle. The other two stayed where they were as Maude turned her attention back to him, tail wagging. It was strange, she seemed torn as though she didn’t want to come to him or was waiting for something. Frowning, Royce pushed himself up again and started toward her only for her to seem to make up her mind. Typical. Grunting, he settled himself once more, angling his head slightly as she trotted toward him, his frown growing when he noticed her limp. He’d known she’d been injured but it hadn’t occurred to him that it would be serious enough to leave a lasting effect. What had happened to his little sister and whose pups were peeking over the ridge?

”Royce! What are you doing here--What happened to your face?!”

Maude had gotten close enough to notice that something wasn’t right about her older brother’s ear and when she’d tilted her head to get a better look there were angry pink-red furrows on his snout and his lip was split and mangled, exposing one of his fangs. Royce was nearly as handsome as their father and surely the loss of symmetry wasn’t sitting well with him; it even looked rather fresh. Her rump swaying with the swing of her tail, Maude moved to greet him with a familiar nuzzle but Royce pulled his head back out of her reach and Maude blinked up at him with confusion in her brown eyes. ”Royce?”

”Not even a hello? Maude you’ve been missing for over a year!” Again his vibrant eyes strayed to the pups and from what little he could see of them, they looked to be barely less than a year old. That meant that it was more than feasible for them to belong to his sister. One of them even had her eyes so it wasn’t too much of a leap to make the assumption. Of course that meant that not long after she’d run away...A low growl rumbled in his chest and he looked back to his sister who was staring up at him, confusion turning to wariness. ”I’ve been looking for you since spring! Where the hell have you been?!”

Maude took one step back and then another so that her brother couldn’t loom over her as effectively. Despite the fact that she was well into adulthood, he’d always been able to make her feel small and insignificant with very little effort. He wasn’t necessarily cruel but he certainly didn’t sugarcoat anything he had to say about her which didn’t help. Behind her Maude’s tail stilled and her ears pivoted outward, not quite pressed back but clearly uncomfortable. ”I meant to come back but…”

”But what? You found a mate and have pups now?” The skepticism was strong in his voice and Royce felt a little bad for his obvious doubt, but given his sister’s track record he found it highly doubtful that she’d managed to snag herself a mate so soon after arriving in Moladion. Still, there were the pups. She would’ve had to have had a mate, he didn’t like to think of the alternative. But as he watched Maude, her face fell and she glanced nervously behind her. Shit! She hadn’t found a mate, but here she was, being followed by a pup with her eyes and the look of their family about him. ”What did you do Maude?”

Maude shifted anxiously as she tried to breathe past the tightness in her chest. She’d never really had to confront the reality of her situation outside of her own mind before. Her ears folded back and her tail tucked slightly as she glanced back at the ridge. Beltran was bringing up the rear, she’d been far too excited to wait for his slower pace and now she wished she had. Her gaze lingered on Jaime, her dear, sweet son. Even Laronius was dear to her as much as either of her true born children. But her brother’s words fed her doubts and insecurities more than anything else could. She had no mate, no real promises from Beltran. She’d abandoned her family and gotten herself pregnant without truly thinking it through. Did it really make a difference that she loved Beltran? Looking back at Royce, she scowled and bristled. She might not have made the right choice but she would never regret Mabel, Jaime or Lars! Even if Beltran ended up leaving her and breaking her heart into a million pieces, she would continue to live for those three precious pups.
