Matianak rather liked to see Triton's excitement. It was both reassuring and welcoming. It might not be her own preferred state of mind, but the boy was a couple years her junior. So could not fault him for that. Having met both his father and aunt, his rather good nature was unsurprising. Using that to her ends in years to come, as well as the fact he was obviously smitten, would prove quite helpful. "When the time is right, I promise," she said. In truth, there was no way to stay young forever, but it was just another hook to keep him close.
Her pale blue eyes watched his facial expressions. The little things, like how his eyes lit up when she was certain he would do well. With a little work, Matianak did not doubt it. "Mostly you and the fine young wolf you are turning in to. A little bit about what Eden expects of us as members of his pack. We did not talk as long as we might have liked, neither of us wanting to take up too much of the other's time," she said. The woman was prepared to tell him that she had offered to Thor that she might teach him a few things, but instead of posing it to Triton, he seemed eager to have her help him, having voiced such himself presently.
As he prattled on about remembering the young pup he had met, the name was already sticking with her. Or rather, it was the mention that she was Eden's little girl. She had a name for one of the pups. There was a small twitch at the corner of her smile. This would prove excellent for a later time. Not today though. And then there was the girl from the Grotto he had met. A child named for a flower? That was a strange notion. When Triton finally finished talked, she gave him the answer he most certainly would want to hear. "I would be glad to help, Triton. Let's start with you telling me about your new friend Dandelion. I certainly have never met her, but I want you to tell me a couple things you learned about her when you met her, and make one of those things a lie. I have no way of knowing what is or isn't, except in how you say it."
It was a perfect start, especially regarding a wolf she had never met. Using someone unfamiliar to herself, but that Triton knew at least a little bit about was the perfect way for Matianak to also learn if the boy had any tells when he lied. Whoever the girl was, she was likely just a random wolf of little worldly importance if her family allowed her to wander the Grotto at such a young age. It was a beginning to which she could eventually pry about one of the youngest children of Eden without being suspicious.
