Lullaby of the Crucified - " />

Romance is in the air...this is probably the most beautiful and scenic place in Blossom Forest. For the athletic and determined to come with their mates, for time away from pups. Only adults may come here; some of the ledges are too far apart for teens or pups to cross and some too high to scale.

a vexatious kiss

Alert pinnae, speckled with chocolate flecks amongst the charcoal and murky earthen robes, swiveled. Sounds of the night engulfed them, predominantly silence, though that in itself spoke of nothing to the true night-wanderers, like herself. Silence was the fractional second before Death let loose its vicious talons, leaving a screaming victim in its wake. Lampent rubies stared up into the night sky, the dimly lit trace of her crows hovered above. The sky was jeweled with the millions upon millions of stars that twinkled and glittered. And the soft, yet eerie glow of moon was the only light by which the souls of normal wolves were able to travel by. And even the abnormal, like he. It was all to easy to conjure forth the image of the moon’s light draped across his crown, spilling over and illuminating the resplendent robes that ensconced him. He was one of a few Arcus Irae- the pure and blessed gift of the gods. At first these beings had only whispers of old tales, hissed between the fangs of her mother. Lucaya, or later to be called Lucyne, drooled over the imaginative taste of their blood, slipping down her throat. “How delectable”, she would whisper to her children. A blood so pure that it was rumored to be impossible to go back once a vampire had tasted it.

Only it was not blood that had entranced her, it was his beauty.

Sublime and inherently unnatural, but all the same seeing those draperies on Scamander made it seem ordinary, in the most extraordinary way. And as the princess of Caidir danced beside him in the night, she remembered in exquisite detail the softness and subtle perfume that hung on his robes. There had been the underlying scents of others, whom she cared naught for. And then there was the delicate aroma of the wildflowers weaved into his pelt, from his playful bantering in the pasture. Somehow though his own cologne, seemed to mix in perfect balance with these other scents. It was masculine, the testosterone, produced in abundance by his body, mixed with a woodland undertone. Musky yet sweet. A soft smile tilted her lips, almost causing Diosa to lose her train of thought and reason for following him. Slowly and in silence, dark earthen robes melded out of the undergrowth. She knew that by doing so she would lose the picturesque image in her head, that the reality of the situation would set in. Their species were not supposed to be together, they were the dark, malicious creatures who prowled the night. The tarnished opposition to the glorious Tempest, with their luminous sapphire eyes. Their species was birthed out of a forbidden touch. Yet, she did not fear the hatred she might find in his mismatched orbs, because the sight of him brought her a feeling of peace and unbridled joy. And she just had to have him…

Stunned, the adolescent’s paws slipped beneath him, bringing him to stumbling stop. He just stared, thoughts bubbling through his mind, though she could not read them. It was written in his delicate features, the subtle hints of anger for being caught a second time in the midst of a Vampire. And then he had turned fully and suddenly to face his captor head on.

Now it was Diosa’s turn to be stunned. Fluorescent carmine orbs watched closely, letting the vibrancy of their glow intensify. She felt no fear at this sudden stand against her. She knew that he had no chance against her, if he chose to attack. All it would have taken was a single scrape and a teardrop of venom to bring the boy to his knees if she so chose. Diosa did not want to harm Scamander though and she would have avoided it at all costs, even if it meant letting him go, because she highly doubted that she would be able to find him, because in this case, she didn’t think third time would be a charm. What is it you want with me? Accusatory words battered her ears and she wilted slightly, it stung to realize he only expected the worst in her. How could he not? He had been raised on the assumption that every Vampire, any night prowlers would want to drink his blood and/or kill him. Diosa was no exception. She had not saved him from any dangerous creatures, she had merely cornered him in a field after stumbling across him. So he could only assume that she was here to finished the job, per say. When in fact that was about as far from the truth as possible.

And maybe that’s why she blurted out the truth, rather than whatever excuse she could find.

I don’t want anything from you. She retorted hotly. I get it I’m a vampire, but did you ever stop to think that maybe we’re not all heartless bloodsucking monsters? Maybe I just wanted to talk or after I practically ran over you, I wanted to make sure you weren’t hurt! I’m sorry for trying to be a decent wolf. The words spilled from her mouth. And though she seemed as though she was just angry and sassy, there was a thread of hurt in her voice. I can’t help what I am just as much as you can’t change the fact you are an Arcus Irae. If I hadn’t been changed I would have died. So chew on that for second, Scamander; being a vampire saved my life. I’ve tried my entire life to fight the stigma that is so aptly tied to my species, but I do know Vampires who fit those horror stories very well. And I know damn well that if he saw the likes of you that you would not survive the night. the princess sucked in a breath, feeling the pressure in her chest from the anger and hurt, I was trying to make sure that the likes of Draven didn’t get to you, because I have no interest in your blood. That’s not the first thing or only thing on my mind. I wanted to try to get to know you. You seemed so happy and carefree, and I couldn’t help that I wanted join in. Don’t you realize that your kind inspires beauty and joy in the world, and just because I’m a vampire doesn’t mean I’m immune to it… Diosa sighed defeatedly, letting the last of her words die out in the heavy midnight air.

No one understands. She whispered dejectedly under her breath. A soft glow of red lit the ground at her paws, where she stared absently.

a bittersweet abyss
