At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

It’s Strange What Desire Will Make Foolish People Do

_________________________________________________________________________

The duo toned male knew that the day would come when he left his home to go about his own ways. He always wondered if he would stick with his sister and brother as they had grown up so close, or if the trio would split up. He had always been indecisive, looking to one of them to often guide him in life. It would be a whole different world if he didn’t have either of them. And it’s not like he could chose a favorite and go with one and leave the other, he was equally close with both of them. He had just as many good memories as bad with his sister as he did with his brother. Keres was the type to always please other…whether that be via good or bad deeds. He was a neutral sole, neither evil or good per say. The mix of good angel and evil demon blood coursing through his veins truly made him an indecisive and impressionable being. He could be convinced to do terrible things…even kill for no reason for another. But then the good in him would come through and he would realize what he had done wasn’t entirely right. But the words right and wrong could be skewed to mean different things to different beings for different reasons. There was too much variation for him to truly know what to do, and so he let others chose for him. It was just easier for Keres that way.

And so in the end when his brother and sister talked of leaving their parents he knew that he would do the same. He would follow them wherever they went, no one else understood what he was like. And they didn’t find it odd that he would rather be told what to do by them, or convinced if he happened to be opposed to something for once, and so he didn’t want to change that routine in his life. But he was not completely dependent on his family. Keres was still his own being and had been trained properly. He could fight, hunt, and be a normal wolf without them, it was just more comfortable when they were around. For a while the trio followed Zagan’s trail together, but they decided to split up and meet back up with the Rohun when they were each ready. Keres took the time alone to clear his head, see what he really thought about leaving home. He was by no means a pup anymore and could easily live on his own, but it had been a comfort to be with his parents, even if it was just as company. They had taught him everything he knew in life, and he knew it was plenty to go off of and live a fine life.

Darkly colored paws began to tread more carefully as the lands became more marsh like and some areas looked suspiciously like quicksand. It could just be thick mud, but he wasn’t going to take a chance and he watched where he stepped to not get stuck. There were plenty of rocks and logs though to help ease his trail, but some areas were wetter than others and he had to be careful on the slick moss covered areas. He was glad that it was now spring as some puddles were deeper than he anticipated and it splashed at his limbs. After some time he heard the familiar howl of Zagan summoning them, and he knew he was on the right trail…and close. Picking up the pace a bit he eventually caught the scent of the Rohun and his sister. When they came within sight of his dull yellow orbs he saw that Lothris was the first to arrive. She had always been punctual so Keres was not surprised. Giving his sister a brief smile in greeting, he turned to Zagan as he dipped his head and chest in respectful greeting to his leader. ”Zagan.” The white and russet male took a seat next to his sister, waiting for any news or further instruction while keeping an ear out for their brother and the others to arrive.
