PERSEPHONE

Persephone had been away too long. Her stays in-between these troublesome adventures had become too short, and she knew that she needed to protect herself better in the future. That was an idea, however, which was easier said than done. It had been some time since she was a youngster, regularly sparring with her companions, and recently it seemed as if that passage of time had begun to show.

In her absence it seemed the Forest’s prosperous time had faltered. She could not blame her companions for fading away – being dragged in and out of her own home may have saved some of them from their fates, but it left their home without structure and protection for too long.

She missed them.

It was this thought that occupied her mind as she stood just off the shore, looking into the shadows between the trees before her as they melted into the Forest, growing denser and denser. Regardless of the sadness that tainted her return, however, she was glad to be home and went towards the inner sanctum of her home with a hint of a smile at her lips.
