Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Zelda

Zelda was alive to remember what Asteraia had been like when it had been ruled by a cannibal queen. Not all cannibals were bad, not all were good either, but the Monster, while terrifying in Zelda’s mind, had kept them under control and given Moladion a long term of peace that hadn’t been experienced again in some time. Now, peace had fallen again, and with a new apparent cannibal queen who now ruled with much the same mind as the Monster. Or so Jinx had said. Zelda was willing to give them a chance, especially seeing as Blackthorne, who was not a cannibal was more a monster in her eyes than those cannibals had even been. She had many thoughts on them, mixed feelings, and while she didn’t approve of what they did, at the same time them being contained, controlled seemed to have silenced the free lands for the time being.

Zelda listened though as she posed her own question to Elohim. His huff of a laugh wasn’t missed upon her tan rimmed ears, but only served to cause her to tilt her head curiously. She was trying to understand some piece of information that was clearly missing, something he quickly filled in for her. Information that now Glorall and Iromar were joined by blood, family, a powerful bond. ”I doubt Blackthorne really cares much about that bond, unless he plans to exploit Eden for it. I know little of your father, but what my mother says of him, but I don’t see your father as one to be exploited. Do you? You probably know him far better than I. Unless… that inlies the problem, that you see it going the other way?” She prodded, though she didn’t fear Eden, everything she had been told was he was a good and decent male. Nothing Zelda had seen of him really made her worry or fear that he would do something terrible. Honestly, seeing Blackthorne be manipulated by Eden was something she would look forward to in that case.

”If all it took were blood, and this is your father’s nephew, wouldn’t he side more with his own child’s pack? The mother of his children? He has investments in Taviora too if this is your reasoning for me to worry. I see why you think I should worry, but I’m not so sure it would work quite, that way with him, I may be wrong about him, I only met him a few times, my mother I also think knows little about him despite loving him as she does. Should this be something I worry more about, Elohim?” She questioned back, Zelda wasn’t sure how much her mother, or Shem for that matter, mattered to Eden, Shem was here, Asriel had left to join him what felt like eons ago now. Maybe it was time she pay her brother a visit, see if he found what he was missing and needing.

Though Elohim was curious all on his own. He appeared to be about her age, and really in a few ways he was like his father. Different as all wolves were from their parents, but children couldn’t help but take certain traits from their parents and family they were surrounded by. ”It is only because I treat everyone with the same kindness and respect I hope to receive in return that my paws are ‘clean’ as you say. Even Blackthorne has been treated as such, though I don’t think he was ever given such a thing his entire life, not unless it involved fear. I empathize with him, his life… his plight in some ways.” Zelda’s eyes went to Elohim’s, tired, almost sad in some ways, she wasn’t as good at keeping a poker face as he was. Emotion boiled up to the surface with her family so easily, it took a lot of concentration to do otherwise. She shook her head then breaking the eye contact. ”Not having power, is the best way to live Elohim, you are doing it right, but I believe the ones that do best with power are the ones who ultimately never wanted it in the first place.” She said her eyes returning to his own, she believed he was speaking the truth, but she was as well.

This conversation was a lot deeper and more heavy than she had been anticipating, though at the same time having some of it off her chest felt good. She didn’t mind sharing her true thoughts about it. His last tagged on question though was not forgotten. She thought about Tezcacotl, Citlalli, Petra, Shem, even Mochimal and Niyol. She did not fear what Taviora may have in store so long as her family rose up, but Zelda wasn’t planning on letting them lead soon. Even other packs she wasn’t sure if she was worried. ”No, I don’t think I am.” She answered simply, ”It would do little good anyway to worry about what’s to come when I can do nothing about it now. Though, I do want to get my paws on Blackthorne’s boy before he can be as broken as his father is. I guess that is why he has been so quiet. Perhaps he is finding parenthood to be very challenging in its own right.” She couldn’t help but snicker at the idea of him being tormented by children. Unable to kill them so easily. Maybe he will learn why it was that Pine and Aster caved so easily. Maybe she should return the favor? Unlikely, though the idea sounded good in her head. If she wanted to start a war that was.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
