Orlando Jai-alai building getting torn down? Posted on October 9, 2018 at 02:45:47 PM by Jeff "Laca" Conway
I came across an article from a week ago in the Orlando Sentinel that Orlando Jai-alai - or the Orlando Live Events name it goes by now - will be torn down soon by the owners to build hundreds of apartments and 72,000 square feet of commercial space. The project would include extensive road development, bike paths, sidewalk dining east of the fronton land, landscaped medians and sidewalks.
The article starts off with the fact that this area is not one of the county's prettiest spots with cracked and uneven sidewalks, weeds, debris of old liquor bottles, beer cans and trash with homeless residents in the nearly woods.
I know this was their original plan, but does this mean Birdoff is basically giving up on his pari-mutual license? Rob or anybody know?
Seminole county plans to break ground in mid-2019 with a $25 million project to refurbish Oxford Road. RB Jai Alai LLC would narrow Fernwood Blvd between Oxford and US 17-92 from 4 to 2 lanes, add on-street angled parking, building new sidewalks and include a roundabout. Replies:
