The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Their union had been something of a fluke. There were no true feelings between he and Siren, not those of fairytales that are told to children to give them hope for some great love. It had been purely carnal in the chill of a winter passed. They were going to find his sight and give it back to him; this great quest that they had begun. It ended with them becoming parents to three writhing little pups. He was not apt to handle the responsibility. He couldn’t even see them for heavens sake! How was he to be a father to them… someone to guide them when he cannot even guide himself. He had barely been there for them and now they were scattered like they weren’t family at all.

He could have, no, should have done things differently. Who was he to believe that his eyes could be fixed? Who was he to think that there was something other than this eternal black that consumed him day and night? They were a fool’s thoughts and the universe played the ultimate joke on him in the end. He had three beautiful children that he could never see. He would never know the intimate way that his blood mingled with Siren’s to produce something so pure. The warmth of his eyes that were passed to Ruby and his strength embodied in Obsidian. Lethe, well, she takes more after Siren and if were able to see either of them he would agree.

The strong urge of winter grasps for him again this year but he has no one to go to even if he wanted to give in to it. Instead, he flees from Glorall and ventures into the wilderness to find the cold, dark Grotto. The day is warmer for winter as ice from the night before begins to melt in the morning sun. He feels the sunlight beat down upon his darker markings and warm his skin. His paws slosh through the melt and mud as it runs in tiny streams between his legs. Soon enough he finds the collosal formation of the crags... and beneath it the caverns that await.

He seeks solitude as he makes his way into the labyrinth but he also did not expect to find a strongly familiar scent wafting from the distance. Could it be true that his Ruby was hiding in the shadows?
