The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Fear. It should have been fear that had driven her here as well… should have been. Creed’s family, Creed’s actual blood family… they’d wanted her dead. Probably would have killed her, had she not run off like she had. She wasn’t even scared of them. Selene was a good runner, a fast runner. She could have run anywhere else on her home continent… probably should have. She could have run, as fast and as hard as possible, to Fiori. Right to the Falls… right to Lionel. With a pang, Selene realizes what she’s left behind.

No matter now. Don’t look back, you’re not going that way. She couldn’t go back. They’d rip her limb from limb. The moonscorned shook her head as if to clear it, bringing herself back down to earth. Couldn’t let her train of thought go running off like that again. The climate. Right, the climate of the place she’d called home. It took Selene a moment of consideration to really put it into words. “Highly variable, but the climate mostly of the humid continental and humid subtropical varieties. The winters in the north were like this, with plenty of snow to go around. They were easier in the south though, dry and mild. Summers all over were pretty hot!” Selene is, admittedly, a bit of a dork about the weather. She quiets for a moment, shifting on her paws. “You wouldn’t be the first to underestimate me, wouldn’t be the first to be wrong either.” Her tone is still light, conversational.

Love. She doesn’t think she likes that, but Selene won’t say anything to the contrary. That would be rude, and Creed wouldn’t approve. Her tail wags, and she takes a few steps forward, deeper into the cavern. “Selene,” the girl’s breath hitches-- she won’t use Creed’s surname. Not anymore. It’s not appropriate… it couldn’t be. “Nice to meet you.” It’s the second time she’s said it aloud recently, and it doesn’t taste any less foul. Selene Ancora... but that wasn’t true anymore. Just Selene.
