a vexatious kiss

The hours of the night waned as did the moon, who trek was beginning to make it’s downfall, but there were still hours left before the night creatures would be forced to hide once more. Before Diosa would be made to retreat back to her den in the shadows of Caidir Olc. And she dearly hoped that Scamander would reach her before that time would come, because regardless of the outcome, she wanted to attempt to reach out to the male rainbow again. And as she sat patiently awaiting his arrival or her eventual departure, Diosa let her mind wander through the few various encounters she had had with the golden collared amethyst boy. It had been quite a turn of events since their first meeting, when Scamander had run away from her moments after they’d entangled themselves with each other. Or rather she’d carelessly trampled the poor boy and caught herself caught up in his limbs, catapulting them both into the dirt of the flower fields. She remembered how absolutely terrified Scamander had been. His pure soul had laid on eyes on a creature it had been taught was the most vile and retched abomination to walk the earth. Diosa by all accords was a demon who walked the earth in the body of a wolf and Scamander had had the untimely and unfortunate luck of having it run into him. In the dead of night, none the less. But all of their encounters occurred within the twilight or dawning hours, because she would never walk in the path of light…

Forever cursed to roam the night.

Diosa worried that it was too early for the boy to wandering about. She dared not venture any closer to the pack that he resided, lest she truly want death upon her. Alas, she did not. Not anymore. There was a light at the end of her tunnel, that even though slowly, she was making progress towards. And righting her wrong with Scamander was another step in that direction, if he gave her the time of night to explain herself. The vampiress sat in a cocooning silence, letting the soft lull of the creek invade her thoughts. The cool waters lapped at her toes, but she dared not to let herself sink any further into the darkened pool. It occurred to her how long it had really been since Scamander had seen or heard from her… which had been long before the battle between species. The princess turned Queen had grown a fair amount since her last visitation with Scamander, including the unsightly scars still visible on her hind limb and around her scruff. Thankful for once of the thickened coat she carried, which did well to hide the uneven layers of fur around her neck, from where the Tempest had attempted to rip away her life. And by some miracle she had survived. More than her scars though, the young lady had grown into her figure, although still on the thinner side due to her lacking selfcare in the past months. She could not help but wonder what changes he had undergone. Would his colors have changed at all? Did rainbows change colors as they aged, like a sign of maturity? Or did they carry the same color palate all their life?

Secretly she hoped that Scamander had not lost his original hues and tones. She remembered vividly the emerald towers atop his crown and pillars which he stood on and the gold thread that draped around his nape that blended into the plush hues of amethyst and amber draped across his figure. And then there was the sunshine jewels which he looked at the world with, which were also laced with a vibrant violet coloration. It was a mismatched coloration, but on him, there was no sight more perfect… Diosa stuttered and huffed at her own thoughts, when had she begun to think of him that?! A hot flush of crimson rosied her cheeks, only emboldened by the lampent rubies in her sockets. An awkward giggle left her lips, and she searched the area incredulously, hoping that no other creature had seen the embarrassing transition. Still the thoughts of Scamander pervaded to the forefront of her mind, which she tried to aimlessly blame on the fact that it was him that she was waiting for and nothing else. Suddenly the femmes panicked, did she look presentable? Diosa moved in closer to the reflective waters staring at herself, she lifted a soaked paw and tried to comb back the fur atop her crown, but the weight shift caused the pebbles beneath her paws to move and sent her tumbling and sliding straight into the creek. Diosa came up sputtering and coughing up water with her fur sleek against her body, dripping with water. In that moment she looked up, hearing sounds of movement, but a little to late, for she found herself face to face with a set of familiar violet and dandelion yellow orbs.

Diosa? I didn’t think you wanted to see me again…

The vampiress stared at the wolf in front of her, he too was wet from an excursion in the waters. More likely for fun and not because of his own stupidity like Diosa. Only this was not the only thing she noticed… Scamander had grown up. Just like she, the small framed boy had grown up, filled out, and if possible the palate of his robes had only gotten more vibrant over time. If Diosa hadn’t had manners, her jaw would have likely hit the floor by now, but she clenched her jaw together, scared that if she spoke he might vanish or run away. The Queen shook away her ridiculous thoughts but still felt at a loss for words and so for a few moments more she just watched him. Scamander… you came? Diosa could not hide the surprise from her voice, an awkward left her maw as she dropped her gaze to the ground, I’m sorry, forgive me for my rude stare I just didn’t realize how much time had passed… how grown up you were. Diosa stopped abruptly, feeling the heat rise in her cheeks, before she quickly tried to recover herself, I mean, you’ve gotten so much bigger and your coat looks great… You look great. Diosa stopped completely hearing the words leave her mouth. OH MY GOD, WHAT AM I SAYING…

I’m sorry! I don’t know what’s wrong with me… I really just meant to apologize to you for running away from you last time. I just didn’t really know what to expect if you did come, hell I wasn’t sure if you would… cause of your pack and the rules and well the fact that I’m a vampire… I’m sorry for my outburst last time we were together, you didn’t deserve to be yelled at or get left alone, but to be honest I was… I was scared Scamander. Diosa stuttered over her last sentence, I’ve never had anyone accept me except other vampires, and even then that was only one. And for someone like you to put aside all difference so abruptly just scared me. I didn’t know what to do… I didn’t know what would happen if we got any closer. The vampire Queen turned her crown away from Scamander unintentionally revealing the scars along her nape from Kalgalath. Her audettes awaited the rainbows response, scared but still somewhat hopeful.
