It felt good to finally spend some time in my new home. When I first arrived in Glorall, I was so ready to prove myself to Eden that I had wasted no time in leaving the shores to travel inland. Perhaps I should have explored the pack at least a little before venturing away from it. Well, regardless, I was home now. When the sun rose over the eastern mountains, I woke with a new goal in mind and soon I found myself trekking along the many worn paths scattered all over the sandy dunes. Heading north, it didn't take me long to discover the large river that separated Diveen and Glorall. I could see the vast plateaus in the distance and smiled fondly at my birth place. However, before I could let the bad memories sink in, I quickly moved away and headed south again, only this time moving along the beach.
Sometime long before I was born, the ocean had cut Glorall in half. The island now stood alone several miles away and called to any wolf who dared brave the icy waters to explore the unknown. That wolf was not me and I simply smiled at the lonely island before continuing my way down the beach. I found myself wondering if that would be a place Shem would be brave enough to discover. He seemed to be the type to conquer any challenge put before him, a quality I couldn't help but admire. Before I got very far down the sandy shore, however, I heard a call on the wind. I knew it was Eden, not because of the tone, but because only the alpha's voice was strong enough to reach my ears over the constant crashing of the waves. I didn't even try to answer back, knowing my own howl wasn't nearly as strong as his. Instead, I turned myself towards where it had originated from and increased my gentle lope into a full-on gallop.
If not for his second song, I would have missed him completely. Reorganizing myself, I discovered his figure resting beneath a large tree not too far away. However, before I make my way towards him, I couldn’t help but stop for a moment to greet a new friend I hadn't seen before. A single flower with a subtle purple hue waved at me in the breeze. I sniffed its petals, giving it the gift of my exhale as I sighed contentedly. Such a lovely scent! I was surprised such a flower grew here and it had not been tainted by the salt of the ocean. I mean, not that the sea smells bad! It's just… a different scent is all.
Remembering who was waiting for me, I made my way towards the alpha with my tail held low. "Good afternoon, Your Highness! I'm sorry if I made you wait. I was just saying hello to my friend…" I stopped suddenly. Would he think it odd for me to visit flowers as if they were wolves? Sheepishly, I cleared my throat and continued anew. "I was stopping to smell the flowers. They are quite beautiful. I'm sorry, you must be very busy and I don't mean to keep you. Yes! We should talk… I mean… um… what did you want to talk about?" Ugh… one day I'd be able to talk to noble wolves without tripping all over my words.
