Hannah was not use to being a solitary animal. It scared her and it scared her more to think she might have to bring a foal into the world without the support system of a herd to help look out for the foal. Sure in a herd when you gave birth you did wander a way to do it and bond for a moment alone with the foal but you would then bring them back to the herd where it was safe.

Her stomach showed all that she was due in spring.Predators may be leaving her alone now but they were surely stalking her waiting for her to give birth. If she did that now with no one to help protect her foal she would loose it.

She grazes now as she is content to allow him to be near her and it wasn't long after that she took note of his extended muzzle and she did the same huffing into his nostrils in greeting. speach wasn't always necessary in their world as they knew body language quiet well.
