he said, "one day you'll leave this world behind
so live a life you will remember."

Torram resisted the urge to cling to Sapphy as he gaped, wide-eyed and awed, like the tourist he was; the crush of people - more than he could recall seeing even at the Castle (not that he'd spent much time there of late) - moved like one large beast, pulsing and growling all around him. It was... terrifying, in that breathless "oh shit I'm only one tiny person after all" sort of way, but it was also electric. Trying to keep his cool, at least in front of his wife, he pulled himself together as much as he could, dipping down slightly to catch her voice as people milled about them. Kings Heath, he repeated mentally, as if the words meant anything to him. At least Sapph knew where they were, and where they were going.

While he felt a little niggling feeling of concern when he finally caught on (embarrassingly late) to what Sapphy was doing; thievery wasn't exactly noble, but then again, Alder was a smuggler and they frequently hosted outlaws at the inn, so it wasn't as if he had much room to talk. Besides, this was Sapphy's world and Sapphy's laws, what place did his own morals and beliefs have to do with anything? Putting his trust (and no small amount of respect for her speed and fluidity) in Sapphy, he contented himself with staring at everything and anything while he trailed after her, looking more like a duckling than a muscular twenty-something.

The bus rumbled up to a stop and Torram stared open-mouthed. They were going to ride this... this... thing? he thought, child-like excitement lighting his features as he obediently followed Sapphy up the stairs. He plopped down next to her, distracted from his study of the people on the bus by the feeling of her against him. He nuzzled against her affectionately, grinning just a touch smugly at her words.

"This place is... I'm... You're amazing," he said, genuine love and affection bright in his eyes. He cuddled close to her, peeking around her for a minute at the buildings before returning his gaze to her face. He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, his expression momentarily shifting to surprise as the bus growled into motion and joined the fray of traffic.

"Are you happy to be home?" he asked, abruptly shifting his full focus to her again. She'd been reluctant when he'd first brought the hop loop home, suggesting a little vacation to her homeworld, but she'd said it was a good idea now. As excited as he was to be on Earth, Sapphy was the most important thing; she'd seemed so down to him, maybe even a little listless? He worried she was homesick, missing her family. Though time passed so differently it might be difficult, he fully hoped to bring her home to see his family at some point - or maybe they could come to visit Shaman. He knew what it was to miss your relations after all.
