For the strength of the pack is the wolf;

Nova had been particular in her return. Why she came back to be honest, she could not quite say... except to keep her son safe. She knew that staying close to him would give Warsaw a better chance of finding him. She kept him close for as long as she dared... but then, then there were others that came and went, passerbyers that whispered rumors that the brutish gray stallion had not forgotten about her or the son that she had produced. For a time she believed him to be kind... believed him to be a gentle soul surrounded by a hard exterior. She wanted to believe that.

Never would she forget the day that she overheard his conversation with that other stallion. He was to be sent away when he was weaned. It was in that moment that the soft and gentleness that surrounded her heart shattered. She was prepared to let her son go in time, to let him make his own decisions in life and do her best to raise him with the knowledge and wisdom she herself had learned over the years. She knew that like herself, it was customary for children to leave their mothers sides and make a life of their own. Warsaw made it clear that day he had other plans.

That night, she had waited until he slept, until he was lost deep in slumber and oblivious to her silent steps. She ushered him away with hushed tones. Leviathan looked to her as he always did, love and adoration in his eyes as he followed her into the cold surf. She stayed close to his side, lifting his head above the crashing waves and lifting his small frame across her own strong back when he could swim no longer. That night, she took him far from the islands, back to the lands where she herself had come from. There were others there, her own mother still who dared to continue to live upon the ash infested lands. It did her good see once more that the forests were beginning to rebuild and though black remnants of fire still charred most of the lands, green foliage had started to deepen. It broke her heart to part from Levi, to leave him behind with a promise that she would return. She knew mother would watch over him but still it did not help her own heart.

She did not dare to return to the Inlet. The islands were wide and expansive so she did hope that it would not take long for Warsaw to forget about her. She wanted nothing more to do with him. A father willing to sell off his own foals was no creature she wanted to be around. Sure she had heard of such traditions before but never imagined she would meet one willing to go through with it.

The harshness of his tones wake her from the flash of memories and for a moment brilliant silver blue eyes widen in startled surpise. Warsaw. Never in her years did she imagine that her return would herald his appearance. Twin harks disappear beneath the thick curling mantle of her mane as the stallion charged towards her in a huff, his dark eyes blazing. Pride lifted her own head as eyes glitter with determination. Despite the fear that fluttered in her heart, Nova was determined to protect Levi frm him and from the Lagoon stallions. "My son!" she spat, long black tail flicking irritably back and forth against sleek supple flanks. "And he is far from your reach." she remarked tension building beneath her skin as instinct prepares her for whatever retaliation he would unleash. He may be able to physically hurt her and imprison her with his larger frame and stallion mindset... but he would not be able to break her spirit. Levi's location was a secret she held dearest and she would never tell.
