Astraea took a steadying breath, willing her taut nerves to relax because there was nothing to be afraid of� at least she didn�t think so. She�d been standing here in a rarely frequented area of the commons for some time now - most of the day, if she was being totally honest - just watching other horses pass through and trying to muster the courage to venture out into the open. Taking that proverbial leap of faith was sometimes a little easier said than done, however. Thus far she�d been able to remain unnoticed to her knowledge, which was fine with her� only that�s not quite what she wanted. She wanted to be brave and to not fear stepping out into the crowds but she also wanted to take her time and do it right.

The golden mare cast her gaze skyward and frowned at the deepening colors there. The sun was just above the horizon and was beginning to cast fiery tones across the fields of the commons and the distant neighboring lands. She was wasting time, as usual. Taking another deep breath, Astraea returned her attention to the horses in the distance across the commons and with a sighing exhale, she stepped forward towards where most of the horses seemed to gather. Her movement is slow and hesitant at first, but gradually, ever so gradually, she gains some of her confidence and walks with purpose.

Flicking her cream colored tailed absently over her flanks as she walks, she still remains cautious and watchful, casting blue eyes around the rolling land. Perhaps she would find a friendly soul or two who might teach her about this land? Or know of a place that she might be able to make a good life here? Before her courage failed her again, Astraea whinnied softly, calling out to anyone nearby who might be one of those souls.
