Even so young, Rana had an obvious size about her – at least, she might have had, had she not been born to a family so large themselves. Floki and Ragnar made her look like a large child and that had given her a sense of strength even in her first season of life. After all, it was easy to wrestle with them. Even if they pulled a clever move, she still had her sheer size to throw around, just like her mother Mihos. But when Runihura arrived, his words and bark louder than any voice she could muster yet...it became obvious even to her that her size wasn’t enough to throw around. For now, she reminded herself as she fought off the instinct to back down or take a step away from her older brother, having whirled around to meet him with flattened ears. He was, of course, taller and broader than she thought he ought to be, closer to their mother and father’s size than she had expected. Still, she refused to be anything but proud and bold, just as he had said. Yes, she most certainly had become bold!
Her tail had dipped but for a moment, risen an instant later as she stood as tall as she could, chest puffed, and head held high as she met his eyes. She gave him a gruff noise of greeting, more interested in sizing him up and eyeing him closely than speaking immediately.
”Bold, yes.” She finally said with a sharp nod and the flash of a sharp-toothed grin. Her heart had pounded for a moment or three, earnestly surprised to have been snuck up upon but she had done her best to feign through it. How did a wolf learn to walk so quietly? If anything was to be shown on her face, it was a look of envy as her eyes narrowed at him in thought. "Not you, though. Sneaking!” She challenged him on that, giving herself a smug, proud little grin as she settled into place as if she’d not even been startled by him. Everybody knew that sneaking was not bold. Sneaking was for things like snakes, or for hunting. Sneaking wasn’t for being bold and proud! Which she was, of course. But not her brother, it seemed. She almost pitied himself but, thanks to her youth and linage alike, pity did not come to her – only challenge came so naturally as she continued to stare him down. How would he take her challenge? Maybe she’d get to test her teeth out on him or run circles around him. He was big, but she wasn’t getting the impression that he was much in terms of fighting prowess, which was – in the young mind of Rana – where her specialties lay.
