Balor found himself liking Menkhet. Young as they were, he already felt the Pharaoh had chosen the appropriate of her kin to be Amunet. Of course, he had only encountered her all of twice. Even so, he liked to think he was a pretty decent judge of character. Just as Menk had, Balor tucked away her response. It was a statement that made him feel more assured about the things his mother had told him both about himself, his brother, and members of his pack like Cuirass.
"She did," he answered in turned. In recent months, Balor was continually left to his own devices. Perhaps he ought to meet more of the pack, get to know Menk and her siblings more. Plus there were more younger wolves lately too, so he might actually need to start to get involved in well... everything. His tail twitched slightly. He was indeed prepared to pounce, but a large form stood out in contrast to the dark coloring of his packmate. His marbled gaze darted from the girl to the grown wolf who had decided to approach.
Shaddix had been quietly stalking the pair since Balor had skirted Iromar. The russet streaked brute had kept his distance for a time as he debated what to make of them. They were clearly of Asteraia. He had thought to make a meal of them. Tender young flesh while also to make a statement to the current alpha. Yet closer inspection had stayed his paw, at least for a brief moment. The boy smelled strongly of the woman who had tended to his wounds some years past. And the girl... There was an odd familiarity there that he could not place.
Balor stepped around beside his packmate. His ears laid back as he bared his fangs at the stranger. There wasn't much he could do against the white beast, but perhaps between the two of them. "Go away," was the best Balor could muster between clenched teeth. Sure, this stranger was marked like those Hircine told stories of, but he was an unknown, and therefore potentially a threat.
Shaddix feigned displeasure at the response. "When I am good and ready... Besides, does your friend feel the same? Or does he speak for you both?" Shaddix inquired with a bemused smirk. His gaze drifted from Balor to Menkhet with a small bit of curiosity to her own response to his unexpected presence.
