Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

If Menkhet could go, then so could Rana. That was, at least, Rana's logic when it came to Ruieze Fields and status as a runaway child. The territory was connected to Asteraia, with both being vast plains, and that made her wonder why her mother had not simply claimed it too. She had wondered if her older sister had left the pack to do so, but when no call had been issued after some days of her being out of the pack, Rana had grown irritated with the not-knowing of the situation. If nobody else was going to do it, then she would have to do it herself. As a princess of the plains, it was well within her rights.

So, she had escaped her imaginery confines of the pack and had ventured out into the snowy reaches beyond the borders. Although it was her first winter, she had spent the first half of it within Asteraia and had fast grown accustomed to traversing the snow. She plowed through it, a shadowy figure in a sea of white as she bee-lined for one of the few 'hills' of the fields. Truthfully, they were little more than tangled, old roots wrapped around rocks and exposed to the elements. But, to Rana, it meant hill - at least, somewhere high enough to stake her claim.

Despite the snow, she had chosen a good day to make her claim. The breeze was gentle, barely stirring any snow up, and though the sky had been inundated with clouds, they weren't storm clouds, at least. She would have preferred a clear day, she thought as she clambered up her podium, but so long as it wasn't windy or snowing, that was good enough too. It'd allow her young voice to carry far and wide, a thought she soon tested as she steadied herself atop her tiny peak. Then, she let out the loudest, most prideful howl she could muster. Though she'd never heard a claiming howl, she imaged she'd hit the right notes - proud, loud, and with a distinct finality. Mine! her howl said. Asteraia's! She tried not to smirk as she settled, but she felt completely chuffed in having been able to take the fields so easily. It was a surprise that nobody had done so yet! Asteraia, of course, would thank her for her duty soon enough, at least.
