Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

S H E N Z I
the hyena’s belly is never full

Everything about Collision’s manner served to put Shenzi at ease, and for this she was quietly and deeply grateful. For a few brief moments, her mind wandered away from the shambles of her own life, and wondered about his. From where had he come? Did he have family here? Something about the gentleness of him, his empathetic behaviour led the tough little mare to suspect that maybe he’d felt loneliness at some point. Why else would he stay and seek to pull her out of the sea of misery she was close to drowning in?

This distraction was brief and beautiful, and Shenzi welcomed it, and bid it farewell with appreciation. Collision’s gentle questioning stirred something within the broken-hearted brown mare. “No, I don’t want to be alone,” she confirmed softly. A weary smile fluttered over her lips. “They wanted so much for me. Every good thing. They’d have done anything for me.” A husky bark of laughter rumbled in her chest. “Baako even promised me the stars.” The sound of happiness died, and the smile faded from her lips. But the spark of brightness in her eyes endured. With a soft sigh, Shenzi shook her head gently. Baako… He’d always been a dreamer.

“All I need is somewhere safe to stay, at least until the child I carry for one of your own is old enough to survive without me.” Shenzi did not presume she’d be welcomed here, nor be accepted as one of their own. She fiercely hoped that she could find a sense of belonging here, but did not dare to speak such things aloud. Only time would tell if the stallions here would prove to be blind to her worth, or if, like her precious lost ones, they’d see her as capable as they were, and dignify her as such.

“I am called Shenzi,” she said, by way of a late introduction. The brown mare shifted her weight, her body sagging under the weight of the physical and emotional exhaustion that burdened her. “If I rest, would you stay nearby, Collision? Will you be here when I wake?” It was her way of saying please don’t leave me, a query that reflected her earlier words. I don’t want to be alone.
