The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Lucia

Lucia's life had been sheltered, but she didn't know what she was missing out on because she'd never experienced it. She'd grown up in the free lands with no pack dynamics or real socialization out of her parents and the random loner she might come across. Those interactions were few and far between. She had the friends she made rarely, like in the case of Aeon and then Sidon, but she hadn't seen either of them in a long time now. She really missed both of them. Aeon and her were inseparable as pups. He was the reason she wanted to learn Latin in the first place. It was his first language and she wanted to be able to communicate with him. As they grew older, her friendship became a crush but she never got to tell Aeon about it cause he stopped visiting and she couldn't find him when she tried to look for him. Then she came across Sidon and in a way, he was helping heal the hole in her heart left by Aeon. But now she hadn't seen him in a while either.

While her parents were considered her friends as well, it wasn't the same as having someone close to her own age that she wasn't related to. Her father could be sweet and playful but most of the time he was too serious and paranoid even. Her mother was a good listener but she seemed sad most of the time and withdrawn. That left Lucia to herself most of the time. Seeing Ella was a breath of fresh air for Lucia so she was just as awed by the girl as she spoke. Her accent was so fascinating to Lucia. She used some odd names for father but Lucia questioned her and she confirmed what she was trying to say. Lucia wondered what other ways there were to say it but figured now wasn't the time to ask. When Lucia told the other female that her parents might like the company, that seemed to make Ella happy. When the girl grinned, Lucia couldn't help but offer her a grin in return, excitement making her own tail wag.

She said the pleasure was hers and Lucia's ears drew back momentarily in shyness, a new thing for her, especially when the other girl then bowed like she was royalty or something. A giggle fell from the gray girl's lips as she shook her head. "That's really not necessary." She smirked. Her ears pricked then as Ella began to tell her about her adventures with her father, saying that she was born in a forest then Morgan took her in. She said her mother wasn't the best and Lucia scrunched up her nose, wondering how someone could be a bad mother. Ella didn't seem upset about it but she didn't to ask questions and make her talk about it if she didn't want to. She said she'd been a lot of places and Lucia leaned in a little, her tail wagging even faster. "I bet that was so much fun, to get around and see so many new places!" Then Ella asked about her and she leaned back a little, shrugging as she looked away again shyly. She didn't feel like she'd done much at all compared to Ella.

Finally she nodded. "Yeah, I was born in the Crags. My parents have lived there my whole life. I've mostly just explored the free lands and steered clear of packs. My mother said it wasn't the best life for her." She never pushed her mother for specifics but Malleah always seemed uncomfortable when she tried to talk about it. Her father didn't really seem to have much experience with packs himself at all, but he confirmed that he was born in one and just left when he got older.
