He was always growing and learning, especially since coming to the islands and finally realizing his dream of leading a herd. Sure, it wasn't the biggest or most prosperous herd on the islands, but it was HIS herd and there were thriving mares in it who needed him for their protection. He had three new foals this season and he couldn't be happier. He was finally a father. He finally knew what it was like to see his own seed grow and develop into something new and beautiful. And he felt his heart about burst with new emotion every time he looked at one of his sons or his daughter. They were all beautiful and perfect and he knew he would do anything for them, even die, without hesitation as long as he knew it would ensure their survival. It was a strange feeling but it gave him a high like nothing else could and he was grateful for that. He was grateful to the mares who had come into his life and turned it upside down.

His relationships with all his mares were also growing and developing, but none so intimate and vulnerable as with Vihaan. She was a whole new texture on his tongue, something strong like whiskey and yet soft as plush. She showed him all these different sides of herself and he found himself wanting more, always more. She opened herself up to him and told him what she was really thinking. She begged things of him, craving his attention like nothing else and it gave him a sense of empowerment and yet made him feel powerless to her own magic all at the same time. He wanted to please her like nothing else and it made him feel a great sense of pleasure when he was able to. He found himself hoping that none of his mares would leave him, especially her. She had become so much a part of him in so little time. He couldn't stand it when she turned from him and he had to beckon her back, not wanting to waste any time not seeing her face.

He liked watching her reactions, studying her delicate features for any little teaser as to what goes on in that pretty head. When he asked his questions, he let her take her time answering, wanting her to think long and hard about it so he knew she was being completely honest, not just saying what she thought he wanted to hear. When she finally spoke, his lips tugged into a slow smile. Yes, he saw all her potential and all that she could be. She was a fierce warrior when the need arose and yet a nurturing mother on the turn of a dime. When she talked of what she deserved, he tilted his head. She was being selfless again, like wanting more than what she deserved was a crime. She already had the strength to do anything so he wasn't worried about that part. Peace was also a selfless thing. It wasn't self peace, she wanted others to be happy. Overall, he felt the first sentence she gave him was the most honest, something she wanted for HERSELF.

Recognition. She wanted to be seen. Then she asked what he wanted and he tilted his head as he thought about it. "For the herd, I want stability. I want everyone to feel whole and safe here, to want for nothing. For me? I want to feel." He stopped for a moment and shifted, his only hint that he was a little uncomfortable with having admitted that. He glanced away as he recomposed his features, clearing his throat before he looked back at her, letting his guards down completely before he spoke again. She gave him vulnerability so it was only fair that he do the same. "For years, I felt nothing so I clung to the only thing I did feel: pain. It's what I still cling to most of the time. Between the mares I've interacted with, I've started to realize there's more than just pain. I just....I want to feel more." There, he'd said it. He looked back down at the sand at his hooves, wondering how she would take knowing that part of him.
