Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

Sila
i can feel the thunder that’s breaking in your heart
Sila can only think of Samus in a gleaming light. Where Samus sees a dumb smile, Sila sees a face like the sun itself. Samus moves like the dancing shadow of the clouds, drifting towards her, a movement that Sila cannot resist for long. She too begins to drift forward, surprised to find her legs in working order but grateful nonetheless. When she sees Samus, she cannot even fathom thinking anything negative about the woman - such thoughts, after all, have never taken root within her. As a child, Niviaq had talked to her about the waiting that often came with love of every kind. The waiting was hard, but it was just time. Time was inconsequential, a simple part of life. It was wrong, she had learned, to value time more than the love itself. When she sees Samus, she cannot see anything but her - not time, nor the waiting, just Samus moving through wildflowers and with the sun setting her aflame with its glow.

Sila is lost in time and space then, their collision course unavoidable despite some vague awareness of it. Why move, she figures, if it is only a mirage? Yet, when Samus' course merges with hers, she becomes suddenly aware of the real, tangible nature of the other woman. In an instant, Samus is on her back and Sila is on her side, her instincts having thrown her back at the last second. She feels the solid ground beneath her, and she breathes out an oh! of both surprise and awe. Before her is the real Samus. Tangled up in front of her is the skin, bones and very essence of the woman and Sila cannot help but stare in a daze, bewildered and excited, and completely paralyzed by the surge of emotions that wash over her like a wave.

Words, she realizes. She shakes her head, then rises to her paws, still completely in shock as she slowly digests Samus' words. It is after a moment of her bewildered silence that she finally understands and she breathes a heavy sigh of relief. In a second, her face is alight with a broody, toothy grin.

Tempted as she is to use her voice, she refrains and lets her body speak for her. In the next second, she is all over Samus. She lurches for her, pressing her face right into her chest, breathing in scent and essence alike. She can hear her heartbeat, feel it reaching out to her own as she moves to press her chest against it. It has been too long, she thinks, since they were able to meet in such a way. Words could not do it justice.

It feels like aeons for her, yet it is likely only moments before she pulls back just enough to gaze up into Samus' eyes. She is lost in them, but she swims just enough to finally be able to speak. "You couldn't hurt me in a hundred years," she says, nipping at the woman's ear, "even if you tried your damnest the entire time!" She laughs, wane and playful, before she buries her face once more into Samus' chest, all too relieved to feel real warmth, a real heart, the real Samus. It is a relief she was not even aware she needed, and she feels her entire body relax, surprised that she had been so tense. When had she become accustomed to feeling such a way?

"You're really here, aren't you? And in one piece, too...I must be the luckiest girl alive today, I think," she laughs, still half-buried in Samus' dark fur as she peers up with a single eye. It would, she realized, take more than every pack in Moladion to get her to go anywhere else.
