take me where I've never been [Rougaru]

Indira was hoping for a change, and an excuse get off of Luthien. This isn't what she had in mind.

War came to the island, and ever since then, there's been nothing but change. So many lives have been uprooted, horses stolen, and horses injured. Those left behind uninjured are stressed. Anxiety runs high in the Forest. Indira has done her best to defend her family. She's been away for so long and no longer has strong ties to anyone else on the islands. She never thought of herself as a potential target, but the casualties of war don't always choose those that play an active role.

Indira is caught off guard by a raid from the Lagoon. They came under the cover of night, and woke her from one nightmare into another, as they bore down upon her. The element of surprise and the force of numbers soon found her overpowered. A stallion called Raider forced himself upon her. The cruelty in him reminds her of another named Angus. It was the fight of a lifetime to escape the clutches of Angus. She didn't win her freedom to fall into the clutches of another just like him.

Indira has grown a lot since she faced off with Angus. She knew when to bide her time, and how to escape without losing more pieces of herself. The mare let him steal her away from Luthien to Atlantis but what came next was nothing but a failure on his part. There was no way for him to hold her captive in the midst of another raid. Indira found her window of opportunity wide open, and took it. She slipped away into breaking light of dawn, and cut a path south, away from her home, where Raider shouldn't follow.

The sun now rises full above the eastern rim of the sea, setting the sky ablaze with streaks of vivid oranges and purples, but Indira is in no condition to admire the birth of a new day. She plods along on an unfamiliar path, winding her way through trees much different than the trees of Luthien. A pattern of shadow and light play across her back, highlighting a tapestry of scars, both old and new, as well as dried sweat and blood. The mare smells both of the Forest, and of the Lagoon. She is wholly a foreigner here.

Her muscles scream with fatigue, and vision blurs. She's so tired, but she has to keep going, to any place the Lagoonies won't find her. Her first instinct is to take refuge on Salem, but she has no idea who lives there now. Really anywhere will do. Indira just needs a place to rest and kill time until Raider is off her trail. Then she can go home to the Forest.
