Dread and resignation creep into her heart as a second stallion approaches. This one, unlike the first, goes after her. Coda recoils from his nip but cannot avoid being herded in a direction she doesn't want to go. There's nothing she can do to help the dun mare now, and not much she can do to help herself either. She can't fight him, she would never win. She can't run; he would easily catch up. Better to save her strength, then, although the stallion's words boil her blood to hear. Instead, she tries a different tactic. If this fails - if she can't convince him - well, Coda won't think about that just yet. One thing at a time.

"I'm too tired to go anywhere." she says, dragging her hooves in the grass as she walks for emphasis. "Look at me. I just swam across the ocean. I'm slow and weak and I'll probably drown if you try to take me across water again." That part isn't quite true - at least, Coda hopes it isn't. She'd like to think she's stronger than that. She just has to convince the stallion that it is. "And if I do make it, what then? I'll fight you. Maybe I'd even injure you. Why risk the trouble and waste your energy? Why not go after someone else?" God, Coda feels disgusted with herself after making that last suggestion. Silently, she promises herself that if she miraculously gets out of this situation, she'll make up for it somehow.

Her hopes aren't high, though. This stallion doesn't seem like the type to listen.
