PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

i’m on fire, again
Her smile grows tenfold at his warm assurance that yes, of course he will not mind her company, and she laughs a little at her own private embarrassment for daring to believe too much. Kestral does not strike her as the type of horse who hides things, and it is his genuine nature which she finds so appealing. And, she must admit, comforting. That level of openness is rare even among the most gregarious of beings.

“So she is,” Rhadra agrees in regards to Keen, her eyes flitting skyward to include the soaring hawk in her joy. His questions draw her gaze back down to him, and for a moment she entertains the impulse to wave off her emotional tribulations —of which he has no knowledge— and proclaim that she is more than well. But Kestral’s openness, much like his calm, collected energy and overall expression of contentment, is infectious. She strives to be more like this stallion who breathes peace, and so denies her polite reaction to honor her heart’s truth.

“I cannot say the same, though believe me, it is a balm to be among these mountains once more.” She looks out over the slopes, and back at the path she has climbed, amazed at the heights she has reached already and utterly humbled by the height of the peaks still awaiting her. She faces the spotted stallion once again, ears turning outward as she admits, “I have been lonely, and lost, wandering about on my own for so long. I dislike belonging nowhere. I have found it is not easy for me to sleep away from a herd.” Rhadra shakes her head. “When I left home, I had not thought... I thought it would be easy to make my own way. Fun. Fulfilling. But I have only felt aimless and insecure, and my head has been full of doubt.”

She thinks of how she wept under the shelter of a stranger’s mane, of how comforting that was compared to the cold stare and hard words of her own family. And Rhadra smiles, not so wide as before, but equally warm as she continues, “I don’t regret my choice to leave. It feels like these islands have been waiting for me my whole life. Have you ever felt that way? Like maybe the reasons you were unhappy before, the reasons that gave you cause to change your circumstances, were all conspiring to lead you to the place you were supposed to be? If you believe in that,” she adds, the concept quite new to her. She’s never before thought about the pattern of her life in such a way.

Rhadra
