This afternoon, at the flooded farm field along Tiny Flos Townline, East of Tiny Marsh, close to the highway 6 junction, were huge numbers of waterfowl. Scanning through the hundreds of Canada Geese were 2 Greater White-fronted Geese, 2 Ross's Geese, and 1 Snow Goose. Also at least 50 Cackling Geese. Both Trumpeter and Tundra Swans were present (one Trumpeter had a wing tag "X60") and hundreds of ducks including; Ring-necked, Bufflehead, Redhead, American Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, and American Black Ducks. A spotting scope is highly recommended, these birds are a couple hundred meters away.
At Tiny Marsh there was a first of season Yellow-rumped Warbler for myself, and a lingering Northern Shrike. Also quite a few people, far more people than I have ever seen at Tiny Marsh without an event going on, which is why I am guessing they will close this park like they have, and will, close so many others. Sadly most people were not observing nature, mostly out walking their dogs, not on a leash, chasing the geese. Replies:
