as the light in me went dark (BLOCK)

Her time spent in the Lagoon had taught Khar a lesson she did not intend to learn again. Stallions were a waste of space. She was glad to finally be rid of Raider. He thought he would break her spirit, conform her to the pretty little trinket he thought she should be. He was wrong. Despite herself she lifts her teacup muzzle a bit higher. She showed him. She would never return there. She fought him at every turn, balking at his touch and shying away from his shadow. He was no lord to her but even that had not saved her from his wrath. Even now her barrel swelled with the child that had been forced upon her. One thing was for sure. She was done.

Passing through the commons, she had no intentions of stopping, determined only to see herself returned to the Peaks where the cold winter's chill would envelop her in its comforting embrace. Few found the highlands enjoyable. Khar'pern was among them. In the jagged peaks she was invincible. Sure-footed feet and disciplined balance allowed her to fly effortlessly over the crags and crevices. Even now thinking of her home summoned a renewed urgency to her steps. No longer did her fetlock swell and ache under her weight, instead she moved with ease, weaving through the dense underbrush and snowladen meadows.

The commons was no concern to her. She had survived long enough in the lagoon to fear no male. Ears fall backwards and teeth flash to those who linger near, she had definitely experienced enough of men to last her a lifetime.

She does not miss the tall dark colored stallion as he stands near two smaller mares. Ears lace backwards immediately as the urge to protect and defend arses. No mare should suffer the same fate as herself. Slowly she approaches, not wanting to alert him to her approach until she is upon them. She fully expected him to be spouting off some demands and conditions, expected him to launch himself at one if not both of the mares in an attempt to force them to his herd. However it is the black mare who seems to be holding the cards in her hand. Curious, Khar steps closer to the trio, her ears pressed forward in the wisping curls of her silver white mane. A mare claiming another? Odd.... but not in a good way.

She had heard of other Peak mares meeting those in the commons of meadows. Heard of them inviting the newcomers to the Peak to enjoy the freedom that a herd life did not give. However a mare claiming another in the name of her stallion... it just was not right.

Khar would not just sit back idly and let the painted woman's fate be decided for her. Venom laces her words as defensively she steps forward, "Shame!" she growls, making a point to lift her head higher than the dark black mare. Ears fall backwards as she shifts the icy glare between the black mare and dark russet stallion. "Shame on you BOTH! Especially you mare! How dare you try to decide the fate of another. Do stallions not do that enough?" she adds with a resolved snort, pale locks flicking audibly against her thickly furred flanks.

For a moment she lets the silence settle between them, gaze hard and icy as she glares at the duo a moment longer. A single forelimb stomps against the snow encrusted earth before she turns her attention to the damp painted girl. "Eliza was it? Forgive the intrusion but I cannot stand idly by as others determine your fate. It is unnatural in my opinion." she adds flashing a mischievous smile and giving her proud head a toss to rid her lashes of the gently falling snowflakes determined to settle there. "My name is Khar'pern. Khar if you like. I am a mare of the peaks, where we decide our own fates. You can join us there if you wish but the choice will be yours to make. Whatever that decision may be.." she adds turning a pointed glare to the black mare and dark stallion.
