She was thankful that it was warm in Paradise during the winter months. Especially since the colt seemed like he didn't need more problems on his plate right now. He looked absolutely terrified and just had a sense of being lost. She could see it in his eyes. Plus he must be starving. He ate the grass like it was going out of season and it made her heart ache to think of a foal starving. When he looked up and saw her, his reaction was out of pure fear, spinning and splaying his legs like a newborn. She would have laughed if she didn't sense his fear so instead she moved slowly and kept her head low, trying to make herself look as harmless as possible. He looked almost ashamed, hanging his own head as he faced her. When she smiled, it seemed to relax him a little, but when she spoke, his head tilted and he blinked, his ears drawing back if anything like he didn't want to hear her words.

Or was it that he couldn't hear them? She tried to read his expression. He seemed almost frustrated. Was he deaf? Her own ears flicked back at the very thought. No wonder he was so scared! He stepped back and shifted like he wasn't sure what was happening so she stayed where she was and continued holding her head low and looking neutral. She even cocked a back hoof to make herself look more relaxed. Maybe that would show him that he could relax a little too. His squeal was unexpected, his head jerking a little at the sound and her nostrils flared before giving a soft snort. Then he lowered his head to lip at the grass again but his eyes never left her. Unsure of how to communicate, she lowered her head again and offered another smile, her ears pricking toward him. She waited for him to make the first move this time. Whether it was just to allow her presence for now and get some more grazing in or maybe he'd relax around her and come closer so she could inhale his scent.

She wondered where his parents were, if they were even alive. Did he need a safe place to stay? She was sure Rougaru wouldn't mind, even if he was another stallion's son. She couldn't turn him away. She wanted to help him, whatever it took.
