you call me out upon the waters

I expected to be approached. This was a given. However, I didn't anticipate being approached by two other equines within a short time span. It's not that I minded, nor that I was afraid; they had both approached her curtiously. The stallion had approached her first. His frame was burly compared to hers. Easily double her size. I am slight and lithe, attributed to my rich Arabian heritage. I assessed him carefully on his approach. He appeared laid back, open. I noted his wooly coat, a deep shade of black in some places, white in others, though it wasn't a bright white. I didn't expect it to be. This was the wilderness.
My small ears turned in his direction as he spoke offering his name. Cain. It was a simple, nice name. My eyes were keen to watch him, but soft. Not long after he had spoken, a mare had approached. Her coat also wooly but of dark grey color. I noted the energetic way she approached. She radiated independence. I could relate and respect that. I found myself often being alone out of prefernce. You could call me a bit of an introvert. Unfortunately as I was mulling these thoughts, it came to my attention that I hadn't responded. The grey mare had announced herself as Cerosi. I knew if I didn't speak soon, this would become awkward and I didn't want to be perceived as rude.
I cleared my throat and extended my long curved neck in greeting. "Nice to meet you. My name is Nasa." My voice is soft as it leaves my lips. I am not loud by any means. Ever. A soft rustle above catches my attention. My red friend has decided to leave my prescense. I chuckle a little. Are you the welcoming committee? Gee N.asa, real smooth.
