i'll let the bad parts in,

If she had heard him approaching her, she had given no indication. Elara had simply continued plodding along, slow and steady towards nowhere. It wasn't until he was truly near her that a single ear flickered in his direction and that she paused. Slowly, she turned her head so that she might catch a glimpse of him over her shoulder. He was entirely new to her, the pale nature of his pelt shimmering and blurring into the scenery around him. His eyes, however, caught her attention. She could not turn her attention away from them, so haunting they were in the midst of her uncertainty.

Just like it had taken her some moments to react to his approach, so too did her response come slowly. She breathed out slowly, a hmm of thought exhaled alongside her breath. She blinked slowly and then frowned, shaking her head. "I'm not sure," was all she could manage to say.

She looked hard into his face. There was nothing familiar about him, yet she couldn't bring herself to be afraid of him. If anything, she saw some kind of trustworthiness in his face. Hope, she thought. At least, something akin to it.

"I...I barely know where I am." She couldn't help herself: she laughed. It was a small laugh, but a laugh nonetheless. How couldn't she laugh at her own luck? What kind of cosmic joke was it to have her wash up on some distant beach all alone when she had entered the water with her companions, all wishing to start a new adventure together? Now, she was cold and walking down a path to nowhere. Elara thought she would have had to have been insane to not laugh at that.

we all live in a kind of continuous dream
