It was nice to talk to someone who was at least somewhat familiar with the place, even if Blue was a little too quiet and reserved to really hold up his end of the conversation. Hearing that this was a chain of islands instead of a single one, Blue’s dark eyes flicked up to meet Galexia’s light ones. "There’s more than one island?" he asked. He wondered if his mother had followed him into the ocean, which he thought was very likely; and if she had, she might have washed up on one of the other islands. Maybe it was best for him to stay here after all, and let her find him, instead of going back to the mainland.

When Galexia spoke of the women of this place and the respect they commanded, Blue blushed. He had not realized he had been showing disrespect by averting his gaze. "Ah," he said, blushing beneath his ebony fur. "I am unfamiliar with the customs of this place. My mother raised me by herself, and her herd before her believed eye contact to be too forward, sometimes aggressive." He chuckled, realizing he was nervously babbling. "It’s all I know, and I will have to adjust. But… I’ve also not met many new people in my life, and that doesn’t help." He didn’t want to admit that Galexia herself was intimidating, partially in the bold way she had approached him and partially because she was just very pretty. He admired it, but he also did not want to offend her. His dark gaze swept over her face, finally meeting her eyes, and though his heart fluttered he did not look away. Something he’d just have to get used to, if he wanted to stay here.

Blue’s eyes lingered on Galexia’s intense gaze as she spoke of her queen and of a great storm. He cocked his head to one side, finding it easier to maintain eye contact as long as she was speaking. "I’d like to hear more about your queen," he said in his deep, soft rumble. Anything to help him practice his manners. His mother had taught him well the importance of manners.
