I must have known about these things they call lies

He seemed to be everything her father was not—tall and strong, his coat splashed with large patches of white, flashy and undoubtedly attractive. Ensign watched with keen anticipation as the stallion approached, his interest in her evident as ever. She offered him a warm smile, definitely not opposed to the attention, even if she knew his motivation was largely rooted in physical attraction. It was a fine start, and an advantage known to her. She was fortunate to be what most would consider beautiful, and even though Ensign was not so vain as to base anyone’s outward qualities of utmost importance, they were still an important factor in every relationship.

“Oh you flatter me, Solomon,” she replied as she looked away for a moment, curving her slender neck over her shoulder, her ample white forelock falling into place and framing her light brown eyes.

“I’m Ensign. It’s a true pleasure to meet you.” She returned her gaze upon him and stretched her velvet nose to meet his exchange of breaths with soft puffs of her own delicate nostrils.

“How fortunate we both are to find each today then!” Ensign exclaimed, excitedly tossing her head and leaping away from him in a playful spurt of energy, begging him to chase her a little. She trotted loftily in a circle around him, showing off her dark legs as she stepped onward elegantly, a coy grin on her face. “Tell me everything about you Solomon! I cannot rest for a moment until I know!”

And she meant it.
