The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.

Summer had come and was not necessarily seeming prone to taking its leave as they approached fall - her gut telling her of the change in season moreso than the environment. She kept to the various brush and oasis shades - keen to keep as cool as she might without sprouting fins and living in the freshwater that hid from them in light of the heat and biome.

Carbon and Vulcan were growing, almost entirely losing their need for her despite her desperation to keep them well attached to her for all time. Vulcan had been of her body, but seeing the utter chance in Carbon had given life to her heart in the way only children had done thusfar. She had not been too distant with her benefactor either, though she did what she could to keep from being underfoot. She admired him for his stoic leadership, but sometimes she wondered if it was healthy in light of his losses and in light of the hardships band stallions faced.

She nuzzles the young Vulcan’s cheek, a breath before shifting to nuzzle Carbon’s, this morning. The boys were going to be fine for a few minutes, she thinks, with Akello on watch and on guard. Another blessing given to her, Akello had the very worshipful admiration of her not-nearly-so-little boy. The move here had done them all a world of good.

So, this morning, she is not idle when she sees Cain in the distance, approaching him as he comes to a place she knew he frequented after waiting him out. "Cain." her voice is unintentionally warm, a little forward since they had only treated one another like the friendly customers one another had been to that point. "Cain, I hope that you have had the chance to see how Carbon has been faring. It has been my great pleasure to mother him, thank you for allowing me into your family. Vulcan has quite taken to your son Akello, too."

She smiles, but her tone is finite, not leaving much room to presume that she meant anything by that other than what her words stated. If she had any other tone, one might have misinterpreted her thanks as a means to end their bargain. "Your home is a little warm for my usual tastes, but I have come to like it. Dawn and Sunset are rather beautiful."

Her first attempt at any sort of social interaction was a little lackluster, but she had been out of the flirtation game. Was it the impending season that had her try now? Perhaps, if one was speculating about her boldness - but the admiration was not hard to come by for him and he was not a jugheaded mess to look at besides. In fact, he was more flash than she was accustomed to among her one-time people. The fact that he had shown himself as sensitive had not hindered that initial regard.

"How has the summer treated you? I didn’t wish to disrupt your duties but thought if I interrupted early enough this morning, you might care for some company?"
